LTE is the evolution for existing 3G mobile networks which offers higher capacity, higher spectral efficiency efficient utilization of radio resources and bandwidth, lower latency.3GPP LTE is an emerging and promising technology for improving the performance which is achieved through streamlining the system for packet services as long term evolution is an all Internet protocol based network. Traffic scheduling plays an important role in LTE technology by assigning the shared resources among users in the most efficient manner. This paper presents the a scheduling mechanism for the different traffic flows by comparing and analyzing the effect of varying the number of packets in the queue in terms of the Average Goodput, Average Delay time, Invalid Packet rate, Packet loss ratio and Spectral efficiency. STUDY OF DOWNLINK SCHEDULING ALGORITHMS FOR REAL-TIME MULTIMEDIA SERVICES IN LTE NETWORKS.
Proceedings of the 1st International Conference on ICT for National Development and Its Sustainability, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria- 2018, 2018
Long Term Evolution (LTE) is one of the fastest growing technologies which supports variety of applications like video conferencing, video streaming, VoIP, file transfer, web browsing etc. In order to support multiple applications, Radio Resource Management (RRM) procedure is one of the key design roles for improving the system performance. LTE system effectively utilizes the resources by dynamically scheduling the users in both frequency and time domain. However, scheduling algorithms are not defined in the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specifications. Therefore, it becomes one of the special interests for service providers. In this paper, Radio Resources Management in LTE networks was studied and presented. Finally, an analysis of six (6) existing downlink scheduling algorithms that mainly focus on real-time multimedia services was carried out

In this paper a study of downlink scheduling algorithms for real-time multimedia services in 3GPP LTE mobile networks was carried out and some existing algorithms were carefully studied and analyzed. Six existing downlink scheduling algorithms were considered for this work. A summary of all the presented schemes was shown as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the schemes. It can be seen that all the schemes reviewed focuses only on Real-Time multimedia services therefore they don’t treat Non-Real Time services with utmost fairness.
COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF DOWNLINK PACKET SCHEDULING ALGORITHMS IN 3GPP LTE NETWORKS
Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile network aims to support high speed network services even in high-mobility scenarios. To achieve this goal, LTE adopts some advanced features in Radio Resource Management (RRM) procedures. Among them, LTE packet scheduling plays a fundamental role in maximising system performance. In this paper, a comparative analysis on the performances of Proportional Fair (PF), Exponential/Proportional Fair (EXP/PF), Exponential (EXP) Rule, Maximum-Largest Weighted Delay First (M-LWDF), Logarithmic (LOG) Rule and Frame Level Scheduler (FLS) LTE downlink packet scheduling algorithms is reported. Performance is evaluated in single cell with interference environment while increasing user number and user speed. Results show that for multimedia flow, FLS scheme outperforms other five schemes in terms of packet delay, packet loss ratio, and average throughput, whereas for best-effort flow, EXP-PF scheme shows better average throughput performance on average as compared with other algorithms being considered herein.
A Comparative Analysis of Packet Scheduling Schemes for Multimedia Services in LTE Networks
The revolution in high-speed broadband network is the requirement of the current time, in other words here is an unceasing demand for high data rate and mobility. Both provider and customer see, the long time evolution (LTE) could be the promising technology for providing broadband, mobile Internet access. To provide better quality of service (QoS) to customers, the resources must be utilized at its fullest impeccable way. Resource scheduling is one of the important functions for remanufacturing or upgrading system performance. This paper studies the recently proposed packet scheduling schemes for LTE systems. The study has been concentrated in implication to real-time services such as online video streaming and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP). For performance study, the LTE-Sim simulator is used. The primary objective of this paper is to provide results that will help researchers design more efficient scheduling schemes, aiming to get better overall system performance. For the ...
