This paper discusses the integration of personality and emotion models into lifelike characters to enhance human-computer interaction. It highlights three DFKI projects that focus on using emotional and personality frameworks to create agents that interact in a believable and effective manner. The authors explore various theoretical concepts underlying affect, personality, and emotion, and assert the importance of these integrative models to achieve more engaging and human-like interactions with users.
