Tibetan Texts of Garbhāvakrāntisūtra: Differences and Borrowings (original) (raw)

This paper investigates the differences and interrelations between various translations of the Garbhāvakrāntisūtra, focusing on the Tibetan and Chinese versions. An initial comparison between Pao-t'ai ching and Ch'u-t'ai hui highlights significant discrepancies that suggest divergent source texts. Additionally, it examines how the Tibetan translations adapt and present these originally Chinese texts, while also addressing the implications of title conflations and translational practices in preserving the underlying doctrinal nuances.
