About curriculum history: themes, concepts and references of Brazilian researches
Revista Brasileira de Educação, 2020
The aim of this article is to analyze the historiographical production about curriculum in Brazil based on the incidence of themes, concepts, and references. The methodology involved strategies of bibliometric research and meta-research. The work was organized into three stages: systematic literature review, analysis of titles and abstracts of theses and dissertations, and analysis of bibliographical references and keywords of scientific articles. The analysis of the study objects of theses and dissertations has shown that academic production can be divided into four thematic axes that concern both the school context and the academic context: courses, disciplines, policies and practical theories. The networks formed from bibliographical references and keywords indicated in the articles revealed that the epistemological basis of this academic production is intrinsically related to two main research areas: history of education and curriculum studies.
The myth of curriculum impact in Brazilian education
2016
Recent years have seen improvements and contradictions in Brazilian education. Demand for public school access has been supplied in a slow and gradual pace, but the incidence of school failure has increased. This paper analyzes teachers' perception about the impacts of curriculum contents and of nonaccomplishment of school curriculum on students' learning. The research reveals that 84% of teachers consider that learning problems faced by students of the 9 th grade of Fundamental School in Brazilian public schools are not related to curriculum contents. It was also noted that 90% of teachers believe that such problems are not associated to the nonaccomplishment of curriculum contents. Data of over 130.000 teachers were analyzed in order to identify possible explanations to the relations between curriculum and learning.
Acta Scientiae, 2022
Background: The historical analysis of a given curricular production makes it possible to understand how, at a given time, the production of new knowledge occurs, made official in some documents, thus providing references for teaching and teacher education. Objectives: The study intends to answer the following question: How to understand the negative criticisms disseminated by the press to this curricular production, in terms of the elaboration of a new teaching expertise? Design: This study is a research from a historical perspective. This is a documentary research that has as its source material from newspapers from the 1980s. Setting and Participants: The research presents aspects of a curriculum production from the 1980s. Sows the impacts emitted by the newspapers of the time on a curricular production. Data collection and analysis: As an empiric of the research, the articles published in São Paulo newspapers are considered at the time of the elaboration of the proposals. Such a question is justified, therefore, because it makes it possible to explain the process of producing new knowledge for teaching based on the actions of experts. Results: Going through the actions of the experts shows us that it is fundamental to understand the tensions between the fields present behind the scenes of elaboration. From the tensions, knowledge will be theoretically constructed. Conclusions The answer obtained shows the decisive role of the press and the struggles waged for the consolidation of this official curricular document. The curricular documents of a given time govern and provide references for the teaching and training of teachers of that time.
Teaching Practice Through the Integrated Curriculum: Permanent Education in the Amazon, Para, Brazil
This article reveals the teaching practice in health education in a Nursing Undergraduate course guided by the guidelines of the integrated curriculum in a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in the Amazon region, Pará, Brazil. This institution has specific singularities in the region, and teachers need to change their didactic and pedagogical practices. . The objective was to analyze whether the continuing education of teachers at the researched HEI meets the operational guidelines for the practice of the proposed curriculum. We opted for a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory methodology with triangulation of collection methods and a case study approach. Data collection took place in two stages: via documentary Curriculum Lattes of participants and oral semi-structured interview. For analysis, the techniques of simple descriptive statistics and categorical content were used, supported by the theoretical references of Freire, Perrenoud and Berbel. Among the results, it was pointed out that the institution does not have a permanent education program to support the implementation of the integrated curriculum, among the main factors, the low proximity between the initial training of the teaching staff and the redefinition of the practice stand out didactic and pedagogical for institutional curricular demands. It is concluded that there were advances in relation to practical changes, for strategies that mobilize the student to elaborate a reflection. However, they point to the institutionalization of permanent education for teacher training with an emphasis on interdisciplinary practice, active methodologies and Integrated Health Activities.
Strategic Behaviours to Preserve Curriculum Studies as a Field
Revista Contrapontos, 2018
Transnational Curriculum Inquiry, 2013
The text in question aims at problematizing the curricula carried out in the routines of six institutions of the Municipal School Network of Vitoria, ES, Brazil weaved with the practical theories invented by their actors, highlighting the relationships they made between curriculum and culture. This is about the unfolding of our investigations that aim at understanding the different meanings negotiated by teachers and students concerning curricular processes going on in our schools. At the same time, these studies rely on a theoretical-methodological-epistemological perspective that can question and understand the multiple space and time determinations of the curriculum, and thus contribute to broadening the possibilities of these actors’ knowledge, action, and power. The present emphasis on the discussions about the relationships between curriculum and culture derives from our own condition of researchers of school routines, which allowed us to realize that even when engaged in proj...

The Problem of definition in Curriculum development and Theories
In the field of curriculum development, it remains a challenge to find a uniform definition of the term "curriculum". This is not evident on the account of it being a concept only but also because of the variables that are at discrepancy on what should make up a sound curriculum. This paper therefore x-rays the polemics associated with this concept, as it is common with other fields of social sciences. The aim is set for a better understanding of what curriculum seeks to serve in the teaching-learning process
Curriculum and its Sayings, Doings and Wants: a teacher’s will to power?
Educação & Realidade, 2022
Curriculum and its Sayings, Doings and Wants: a teacher's will to power? This article makes a map of the curriculum as conceived, written, conceptualized and disseminated by Sandra Mara Corazza in her production on the topic presented in the Work Group (WP) Curriculum at the annual meetings of National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Education (ANPEd, initials from Portuguese from Brail). It shows that her production seeks to follow a combative ethics-politics of what has already been produced in the field, to produce new meanings for the curriculum and link it to the power of a teacher who creates.
