Climate-Based Daylight Analysis for Residential Buildings (original) (raw)
This report presents a comprehensive parametric climate-based daylight analysis for residential buildings commissioned by Velux, investigating two building types across various window configurations and external obstructions. A total of 480 climate-based daylight simulations were conducted using different orientations and climate zones, employing the useful daylight illuminance scheme to assess daylight performance. The research highlights the inadequacies of traditional daylight factor methods, motivating a shift towards climate-based modelling for more accurate predictions of absolute daylight illuminance, thereby enhancing energy efficiency and occupant well-being.
