Employers’ Discourse: An Example of Economic Discourse (original) (raw)

2008

Abstract

So as to know whether employers’ discourse fits into the « economic discourse » framework, one should first put forward the hypothesis concerning the very existence of such a genre as economic discourse which is likely to bear specific linguistic characteristics one can match with parallel trends in employers’ discourse. The paper first reviews the existing research work in the field then it tackles the question of how French big bosses’ discourse situates itself thematically and to what extent those bosses express a specific view of the economy, whether such a view is explicit and finally what kind of economic experts French big bosses refer to.
