The study assessed principals’ administrative style for job performance of teachers in senior secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. Three research questions guided the study. A survey research design was adopted for the study. The population consisted of 400 teachers. 240 teachers were used as sample representing 60% of the population. A proportionate sampling technique was adopted. Two experts validated the instrument. Cronbach Alpha was used for the reliability of the instrument and this yielded 0.70. Descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation were employed to answer all the research questions. Two null hypotheses were tested using t-test statistics at 0.05 level of significance. This study compared the leadership styles of principals dominating in both public and private secondary schools in Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan, Oyo State, and also investigated the principals’ gender differences. Leadership styles examined include: autocratic, visionary, pacesetting, democratic, coaching, servant, laissez-faire, transformational, transactional, bureaucratic anddigital. This study investigated the leadership styles and work effectiveness of school principals in Ado-Ekiti Local Government Area, Ekiti State. The design used for the study is a survey research design. The population of the study consisted of teachers in all secondary schools in Ado-Ekiti. There are fourteen (14) Public (Junior and Senior secondary schools) with five hundred and eleven (511) teachers in the junior schools and Four hundred and thirty eight (438) teachers in the senior schools, as at the time of this research work in the local government area. The sample consisted of one hundred (100) teachers, selected from five (5) secondary schools which were chosen according to their location, twenty (20) teachers from each school. The instrument used was questionnaire titled: Leadership Styles and Work Effectiveness of School Principals in Ado-Ekiti Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria (LSWESP). Tables, Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and t-test statistics were used to analyze the data collected. From the entire study and findings, according to contingency perspective, it is clearly evident that there is no leadership style that is superior to one another. It only revealed that male principals leaderships styles is more effective than the female principals leadership styles and male principals work effectiveness has greater performance than female work effectiveness.

The study examined principals' emotional intelligence as well as integrity and their administrative effectiveness in public secondary schools in Akwa Ibom South (Eket), Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Two research questions and two corresponding null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A correlational research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted of 63 school principals and all the 1702 teachers of the public secondary schools in Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District. The sample for this study was 340 teachers from the seven LECs selected through the proportional sampling technique which forms 20% of the total number of teachers in each of the LECs. Two research instruments tagged "Principals' Leadership Traits Questionnaire" (PLTQ) and Principals' Administrative Effectiveness Questionnaire (PAEQ)" were used for data collection. The questionnaires were administered and the data generated in this study were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis (PPMC). All the research questions and hypotheses were tested at a .05 level of significance. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of principal leadership styles on instructional supervision of secondary schools in Oyo North Senatorial district Area of Oyo State, Nigeria. Descriptive research design of ex-post-facto was used in the study. Four hundred twenty (420) respondents were selected from twenty (20) secondary schools (i.e, 400 teachers and 20 principals). The respondents were measured with relevant self developed questionnaire and the data obtained was analyzed using the linear regression statistical analysis of the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS). Three research Questions were raised and answered in the study. The result showed that there was significant effect of democratic leadership style on principals' instructional supervision (Df (1, 98) = 45.44, P<0.05), there was significant effect of autocratic leadership style on principals' instructional supervision (Df (1, 98) = 27.60, P<0.05) and there was significant effect of laissez-faire leadership style on principals' instructional supervision (Df (1, 98) = 87.45, P<0.05). In view of these findings, the study stressed and advocated that the school principals should ensure effective and efficient leadership styles in the giving of instructions to the teachers and students.

The study was designed to investigate leadership type and principal managerial effectiveness in secondary schools in Ibadan metropolis. It adopted the descriptive research design of the survey type. Simple random sampling technique was adopted for selecting (300) three hundred public secondary school teachers. While stratified sampling technique was used to select (10) ten secondary schools in each of the (5) five local government areas used for the study (Ibadan North, Ibadan Northeast, Ibadan Southwest, Ibadan Northwest and Ibadan Southeast). A questionnaire titled "Leadership Type and Principals Managerial Effectiveness (LTPME)" was the research instrument developed and used to collect data for the study. Face and content validity of the instrument were ensured. The cronbach's alpha method was used to ascertain the reliability of the instrument and was found to be 0.87. Frequency counts, simple percentage, means, standard deviation, as well as multiple regressions were used in analyzing the data collected for the study. The results were held significant at 0.05 probability level. The paper revealed that democratic leadership type had the highest and significant contribution to principal managerial effectiveness. The results equally indicated that democratic, autocratic, liaises-faire, transactional and pseudo-democratic leadership types jointly contributed to principal managerial effectiveness. Based on the findings, it was recommended that, school principals should not limit themselves strictly to one particular type of leadership style but, should adopt a leadership style that is in line with the dictate of the situation confronting their schools; they should also encourage the use of democratic leadership style since it has the highest contribution to principal's managerial effectiveness. This is to enhance better job satisfaction among teachers and better supervision of instruction and which invariably may lead to effective management of schools.

The study assessed the influence of principals' characteristics on their administrative effectiveness in public secondary schools in Edo State. Three research questions were raised to guide the study that adopted the correlational research design. A sample of 60 school principals which represents 10 per cent of the study population was used for the study. The research instrument was a questionnaire titled: 'Principals' Administrative Effectiveness Questionnaire (PAEQ). The instrument was validated by experts in educational administration and the internal consistency of the instrument was determined and analyzed using the Cronbach alpha Statistic and a coefficient of 0.881 was obtained. The data collected to answer the research question and test the hypotheses formulated for the study were analyzed using mean, t-test statistics and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The findings of the study revealed that the level of principals' administrative effectiveness in public secondary schools in Edo State is high. Furthermore, there is no significant difference in the administrative effectiveness of male and female principals. However, there is a significant difference in the administrative effectiveness of school principals based on their professional qualifications in public secondary schools in Edo State. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that a high level of principals' administrative effectiveness should be sustained through the regular release of subventions and other necessary inputs to the schools.

The main purpose of the paper was to find out teachers' perception of principal's leadership effectiveness in instructional supervision, provision of instructional materials and application of leadership styles. Three research questions were posed for the study, while three hypotheses were tested. The design of the study was the ex-post facto research design. A total of 484 teachers were sampled from 18 selected secondary schools in the zone. The instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. The mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while the hypotheses were tested using the chi-square goodness of fit at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the study showed that principals of schools were effective in instructional supervision, provision of instructional materials and application of leadership styles. The major recommendations of the study were that; principals of schools should improve their supervisory activities especially in post-conferencing and in the use of instructional materials to the benefit of both old and new teachers.

This paper presents the results of investigation into the level of administrative effectiveness of principals of public and private secondary schools. It makes a comparative analysis of administrative effectiveness in the two types of educational institutions. The population for the study consists of teachers in both public and private schools. A sample of 295 subjects were sampled, 191 subjects from public institutions, 104 subjects from private institutions. Data were gathered using a self-constructed questionnaire titled "Principals' administrative effectiveness in secondary schools (PAESS). The validity and reliability of instrument were ascertained. The result of the study revealed that there was moderate level of administrative effectiveness in public schools while there was high level of administrative effectiveness in private secondary schools. It also revealed that schools with high level of administrative effectiveness manifest high level of discipline. It was recommended that the principals of public schools should be more skillful in their administrative strategies to enhance the level of students' discipline. It was also recommended that private schools should show more interest in sporting activities.

In order to know the performance o f teachers on the job, this study investigated school type and principals’ leadership style as correlates of teachers’ job performance in selected Education zones in Rivers State, Nigeria. The study adopted the descriptive survey design. The sample consisted of three hundred and ten (310) students and sixty (60) teachers who were randomly selected from four schools in each of the chosen education zones in Rivers State. Three research questions were raised and answered at 0.05 level of significance using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Multiple Regression Analysis. Data were collected using two self-structured questionnaires. The reliability coefficients of 0.85 and 0.72 were obtained for SPTJPQ and TPSTPLSQ respectively using the testretest method.
