In this paper, we deal with the proof of ownership or legitimate usage of a digital content, such as an image, in order to tackle the illegitimate copy. The proposed scheme based on the combination of the watermarking and cancelable biometrics does not require a trusted third party, all the exchanges are between the provider and the customer. The use of cancelable biometrics permits to provide a privacy compliant proof of identity. We illustrate the robustness of this method against intentional and unintentional attacks of the watermarked content.

The Watermark Applications in Multimodal Biometric Identification

The need for personal identification in the modern world in all areas of social activity is growing. This paper presents the application of the watermark in multimodal biometric identification. In one biometric feature-a face photo is inserted in the form of a watermark, a second, encrypted biometric feature-a fingerprint. Unlike standard biometric identification algorithms that require access to a database with biometric features, the concept of multimodal biometric identification does not require access to the database. It has been shown that a high quality fingerprint can be extracted from the watermarked photo of person, which, together with the face image, is used in the process of multimodal identification. In the experimental part of the work, mean values of PSNRs of secured images of over 37dB were obtained, while the average value of PSNR watermarks was over 33dB, NC greater than 0.98 and SSIM about 0.96. Based on the obtained experimental results, it can be concluded that the proposed concept of multimodal biometric identification based on a watermark can be successfully applied in multimodal personal identification. Authentication of digital documents is an important concern as digital documents are replacing the traditional paper-based documents for official and legal purposes. This is especially true in the case of documents that are exchanged over the Internet, which could be accessed and modified by intruders. The most popular methods used for authentication of digital documents are public key encryption-based authentication and digital watermarking. Traditional watermarking techniques embed a predetermined character string, such as the company logo, in a document. We propose a fragile watermarking system, which uses an on-line signature of the author as the watermark in a document. The embedding of a biometric characteristic such as signature in a document enables us to verify the identity of the author using a set of reference signatures, in addition to ascertaining the document integrity. The receiver of the document reconstructs the signature used to watermark the document, which is then used to verify the author's claimed identity. The paper presents a signature encoding scheme, which facilitates reconstruction by the receiver, while reducing the chances of collusion attacks.

Biometric watermarking was introduced as the synergistic integration of biometrics and digital watermarking technology. This paper proposes a novel biometric watermarking technique, which embeds offline handwritten signature in host image for copyright protection. We propose to combine the conventional LSB-based and DWT-based watermarking techniques into a unison framework, which is known as LSB-DWT in this paper. The proposed LSB-DWT technique is evaluated against various simulated security attacks, i.e. JPEG compression, Gaussian low-pass filtering, median filtering, Gaussian noise, scaling, rotation and cropping. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed LSB-DWT technique exhibits remarkable watermark imperceptibility and watermark robustness.
A combined watermarking approach for securing biometric data

In this paper, we propose a new watermarking reinforcement approach that ensures a suitable compromise between the security level of a person's biometric data and the computational complexity of the proposed scheme while maintaining a reduced storage space and a good visual quality of the watermarked host image. We validate the suggested approach on two biometric modalities, fingerprint and face, which are among the most frequently deployed and mature ones in biometric watermarking systems. The improved level of safety is ensured by a combined watermarking scheme. In fact, the same watermarking algorithm is applied twice in succession. First, the face of an individual is watermarked by the local characteristics, minutia, of his/her fingerprint. Second, the previously watermarked face image is inserted into the original image of the fingerprint as supplementary identity information. Beside securing the biometric data, the exploration of the watermarked image has shown interesting performances in individuals' verification. The results of various tests performed on the Biosecure multimodal database have demonstrated that the proposed method is robust to several signal processing attacks.
Biometric Data-based Robust Watermarking Scheme
In this paper we propose a method that identifies users in latest compressed streaming with their biometric watermark. Since the fingerprint is the most economical and the most widely used biometric feature, the digital fingerprint watermark system can be one of the best biometric security system. In this paper we propose a digital fingerprint watermark technique that can survive under very low bit rate compression. The proposed algorithm consists of preprocessing of the fingerprint image, watermark insertion using discrete wavelet transform, and watermark recovery. The damaged watermark by high compression ratio can be effectively restored with preprocessing before watermark insertion and accumulation of extracted watermarks in the stream. The simulation results show that the extraction accuracy increases over 99% in the highly compressed H.264 streaming.
IMPLEMENTATION OF IMAGE AUTHENTICATION USING DIGITAL WATERMARKING WITH BIOMETRIC
The rapid global development of E-commerce in terms of digitalization and distribution of digital contents in the form of image, audio, video, increases the possibility of unrestricted duplication and broadcasting of copyrighted data and the protection of crucial documents is highly significant. Digital watermarking inserts watermark into the cover or host data by unnoticeable modification. In this work digital watermarking with biometric features is done. In this work a technique to implement the hiding of an image inside another image using biometric features namely signature and fingerprint using watermarking techniques is done. To accomplish this, a hybrid watermarking scheme consisting of Discrete Wavelet Transform, Discrete Cosine Transform and Singular Value Decomposition (DWT-DCT-SVD) is proposed for image authentication that is robust against attacks. Here, singular values of watermark1 (fingerprint) and watermark2 (signature) are obtained by applying DWT-DCT-SVD. By adding both the singular values of watermarks we acquire the transformed watermark. To improve the security, robustness and provide authenticity for the image, a two-step watermarking method is demonstrated. The evaluation parameters like PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio), SSIM (Structured Similarity Index Method), normalized correlation coefficient (NCC) are used for image quality assessment.
