Subjective Well-Being and Psychological Health of Teachers: Some Theoretical and Practical Aspects

The article deals with the problem of the correlation between subjective well-being and psychological health of teachers. It is shown that the problem of the relationship between subjective well-being and health in general is characterized by both potentially extremely important findings, and also by pivotal research issues and questions. The basic principles of the study of psychological health are determined. The main criteria and indicators of psychological health are highlighted. Groups of factors of subjective well-being of teachers that are directly related to their psychological health are identified. Distinctive features of teachers that can negatively affect their psychological health and subjective well-being are identified. The expediency of monitoring the subjective well-being of teachers as an important condition of identifying and maintaining their psychological health in the extreme conditions of nowadays is shown.

The role of student-teacher relationship to teacher subjective well-being as moderated by teaching experience

A good relationship between teachers and students can positively influence the subjective well-being of teachers. However, in the context of middle school setting, a good relationship with students was considered as an effortful attempt for teacher to maintain which was related to the teacher well-being too. It was said that the more teaching experience the teacher has, the easier for them to navigate their relationship with students. Therefore, this study aimed to test whether the teaching experience moderate the impact of the teacher-student relationship to the teacher subjective well-being. The teacher-student relationship was measured using the Student-Teacher Relationship Scale (STRS), while the teacher subjective well-being was measured by the Teacher Subjective Well-Being Questionnaire (TSWQ). Respondents in this study were 289 teachers at the middle school level from both junior high school and senior high school or equivalent. The analysis technique used was a simple moderation analysis. The result showed that there was a positive relationship between the teacher-student relationship, the teacher subjective well-being, and teacher experience. However, this study indicated that there was no moderation role of the teaching experience in weakening or strengthening the close teacher-student relationship impact on the teacher well-being.

Well being of Secondary and Higher Secondary school Teachers

The education of children and young people is at the core of teachers' work. Student success, enthusiasm, and commitment of teachers. It is well known that teachers are the most important in contributing to student success, satisfaction and achievement. Employee wellbeing is an important factor in quality, performance and productivity. In the current educational environment, where schools are trying to increase student ability with a diminishing budget, teacher wellbeing may be overlooked as a 'nice to have' rather than as essential. Secondary and Higher Secondary school teachers are builder of the nation like a farmer cultivating crops from seeds. Wellbeing refers to the subjective feeling of happiness in respect to ones physical, psychological, social and cultural experiences. Wellbeing is the essential condition that helps Secondary and Higher Secondary school teachers to direct their effect towards fulfilment of national goal. There is a reason to believe that all teachers do not have adequate feeling of wellbeing. There for this study surveyed the level of subjective wellbeing of 121 Secondary and Higher Secondary school teachers (both male and female) employed in govt aided schools in Kolkata using GWBS.

Measuring the Subjective Well-being of Teachers

This paper presents an instrument, designed using scientific methods, to measure the subjective well-being of teachers in relation to their work and to variables from life experience. Participant teachers work at the basic educational level in private institutions created by the civil society that attend to the needs of the socioeconomically vulnerable populations outside the state's system. The Cronbach Alfa index and exploratory factor analysis were used to establish the reliability and validity of the instrument applied to 183 Mexican teachers in the pilot test. Conclusions pint out to possible uses of this validated instrument for the design of strategies that favor the integral well-being of the future generations of teachers and a substantial improvement in the quality of education.

Well-being and academic achievement among prospective teachers

The aim of the present study is to measure prospective teachers' academic achievement and well-being. Education gives the person social, moral, spiritual, and cultural knowledge, which makes life more advanced, cultured, and civilised. The concept of wellbeing has several aspects, including cognitive, affective, physical, and mental components. It also takes into account environmental, organisational, personal, and social elements. The concept of wellbeing covers all positive life experiences and assessments that humans experience. A teacher's ability to efficiently teach will be affected by how well they are emotionally and psychologically balanced. Because it reports that life is supposed well, it has importance for both the individual and the society. The study is a survey in nature. The prospective teachers well-being scale (PTWBS)was developed by the researcher and validated. The researcher put an attempt to investigate how prospective teachers' academic achievement is influenced by their well being. Keywords-emotional well-being, mental well-being, moral well-being, physical well-being, social well-being.

Investigation of relationship between subjective well-being levels and academic achievements of university students according to various variables

In this study, it is aimed to determine and evaluate the relationship between the subjective well-being levels of the university students and their academic achievement according to various variables. The study group consisted of 600 students from various faculties of Samsun 19 Mayıs University. Subjective Well-being Scale developed by Tuzgöl-Dost (2004) and academic achievement scores prepared by the researcher were used as data collection tools. The subjective well-being scale, which consists of 46 items, aims to measure the subjective well-being of individuals. Students' academic achievement scores were obtained with personal information form. In the study, simple regression analysis was performed to examine the predictive power of subjective well-being on academic achievement. According to the results of the regression analysis, subjective well-being significantly predicted positively (β = .330, t = 54.704, p <.01) and 5% of the variance in subjective well-being scores. According to these results, as the subjective well-being of the participants increased, their academic achievement levels increased. The level of subjective well-being of the students differed according to the number of faculty and the number of siblings they studied. These findings were discussed in the light of the literature and suggestions for practitioners and researchers were presented.

Psychological well-being and stress among college teachers

Teaching is a profession associated with high stress, and teaching responsibilities include balancing the demands of the pupils and concerns about their behavior, and speedy decision-making is often required. So in the Indian context psychological wellbeing of the teacher is very much extensively studied. The aim of this study is to compare psychological well-being stress among senior college teachers. This study is a comparison. The study population is consisted of teachers in Arts, Commerce and Science colleges of Ahmednagar city. The sample consisted of 80 College teachers (40 Male college teachers and 40 Female college teachers) from senior colleges in Ahmednagar city. Age group of sample was 38-55 years. Data was studied by purposive sampling method. Testing tools Psychological wellbeing scale by Dr.Devendra Singh Sisodia & Pooja Choudary, and Social Readjustment Rating Scale by Holmes and Rahey were used for collecting the data. The psychological wellbeing scale has five dimensions namely satisfaction, efficiency, sociability, mental health, and interpersonal relations. The differences in psychological wellbeing and stress among college teachers were analyzed by using t test. The findings showed that there is a significant difference on psychological well-being and stress among college teachers. In the present study research findings revealed that Stress of male college teachers is more than female college teachers and Female college teachers were higher in psychological well-being than Male college teachers. Some stress reduction training programmes will be utilized in reducing the stress and increasing the psychological wellbeing of college teachers. Systematic Review on The Factors That Influence Well-Being Among Teachers

Increasing the well-being of teachers in schools is an important issue that needs to be discussed. Nowadays, there are many problems related to the teacher, which will affect the teacher's professionalism in teaching. This systematic review aims to synthesize factors that can impact teacher welfare. The journal search database includes EBSCOHOST, PROQUEST, EmeraldInsight, and ScienceDirect, published in the last ten years (2010-2019). The keywords used are "Welfare" OR "Psychological Welfare" OR "Subjective Welfare" OR "Subjective Welfare" AND Teacher. Article selection uses PICOSS (Population, Intervention, Comparator, Result Variable, Study Design, and Setting). There are three syntheses of predictors of teacher well-being variables, namely personal factors, professional factors, and organizational factors.
