Workload Characterization in Multiplayer Online Games (original) (raw)
2006, Computational Science and Its Applications
Abstract. In recent years, distributed virtual environments (DVEs) have become a major trend in distributed applications, mainly due to the enormous, popularity of multiplayer online games,in the entertainment industry. Although the workload generated by avatars in a DVE system has already been characterized, the special features of multiplayer online games make, these applications to require a particular workload characterization. ECEASST Load Characterization for Distributed Virtual Environments
2015
Abstract: Due to their sensitivity to user positions, actions, and visibility, Dis-tributed Virtual Environments (DVEs) are well served through a focused load char-acterization effort. Quantified load can then be evaluated through models of the system behavior, resulting in expected behavior. A discussion of determining some characterized load from system requirements and instrumenting a DVE to provide validation metrics is also provided.
