Abstract

Semantic search is the most needed but still underdeveloped area in the world of web mining. All the trivial keyword based search engines present the result without considering the meaning of the keywords. Hence, the result set may vary and might also lack relevance with respect to a user. This paper is an attempt to remove this drawback with the help of Ontology. Ontology is the concept, a rigorous and exhaustive organization of any knowledge domain and is usually hierarchical and contains all the relevant entities along with relations between them. The proposed usage of hierarchical concept i.e. the ontologies have been used here as a Meta layer over the traditional searching system. The technique would facilitate the system with an understanding to know what the user is willing to look over the web while querying.
