Several scholars have conducted specialized studies and published numerous books, pamphlets, essays, and research on various aspects of Philippine history. Renato Constantino, on the other hand, believed that there was no fundamental framework in place to combine these experts' discoveries into a revised picture of Philippine history. Additionally, he stated that many recognized historical facts are baseless and that foreign sources for history books are biased and prejudiced. Thus, he wrote, "The Philippines: A Past Revisited" in an attempt to rewrite Philippine history from the Filipino perspective in order to make it useful for current and future responsibilities and goals.
