This study aimed to determine the perception and level of safety satisfaction of staff nurses with regards to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management practice in the Sabah Health Department, and to associate the OSH management dimensions, to Safety Satisfaction and Safety Feedback. A cross-sectional study using a validated self-administered questionnaire was conducted among randomly respondents. 135 nurses responded the survey. Mean (SD) score for each dimension ranged from 1.70 ± 0.68-4.04 ± 0.65, with Training and Competence dimension (mean [SD], 4.04 ± 0.65) had the highest while Safety Incidence was the least score (mean [SD], 1.70 ± 0.68). Both mean (SD) scores for Safety Satisfaction and Safety Feedback was high, 3.28 ± 0.51 and 3.57 ± 0.73, respectively. Background: Safety is the condition of a “steady state” of an organization or place doing what it is supposed to do. “What it is supposed to do” is defined in terms of public codes and standards, corporate vision and mission statements, and operational plans and personnel policies. The study focused on the perception of healthcare professionals on safety compliancein Malaysian healthcare sector. Among manyfactors, human factors are critical for improving safety performance and quality care. Self-determination theory focuses itsattention on social-contextual factors that influence motivation, self-regulation, mental health andwellbeing. The study aims to assess safety performance among healthcare professionals. The study examines factors affecting safety performance among healthcare professionals in Malaysia. The results will provide insights into the provision of safety management program for effective safety performance and quality care. The survey was conducted in November 2017 to January 2018; the respondents were from various departments of medical centreslocated in Malaysia. Themostimportant factors impacting the safety performance was safety practices, while there was a moderate impact to quality care. The study shows opinion of professionals working in the healthcare sector. With the positive relationship between safety performance and quality care, the higher level of safety performance achieved in the healthcare, the better will become the patient's quality care. Safety performance among medical professionals inMalaysia couldbefurtherimproved by promoting safety management programmes. It is recommended that optimising the work system and encouraging the active and adaptive role of healthcare professionals are key principles for improving safety performance and quality care.
Assessing Employees Perception On Health And Safety Management In Public Hospitals

This research examined the perception of employees regarding the management of occupational health and safety (OHS) in public hospital. 418 employees from three state hospitals in the northern region of Malaysia participated in this study. Data was collected using a set of questionnaires. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation and multiple regressions. Findings showed that employees perceived safety reporting as the most important dimension and work pressure as the least important component in their OHS practices. Empirical evidence indicated that there was no significant difference in safety satisfaction and feedback between male and female workers but there was a significant difference in safety involvement dimension. In addition, results also showed that there was a significant difference in safety satisfaction and feedback faced by job position like nurse but there was no significant difference between employees from all categories of job tenure. Findings suggested that there was a significant positive correlation between dependent variable and all independent variables. Regression analysis revealed approximately 55% (R 2 = 0.545) of variance in safety satisfaction and feedback, that was simultaneously explained by five independent variables including safety involvement, safety reporting, work pressure, management commitment, and safety objectives. In sum, this study has confirmed an empirical relationship between the nine dimensions of OHS management and the outcome variable.

Workplace safety is important in healthcare sector as people’s lives are at risk if safety is ignored or neglected.Nurses interact daily with patients and the general public hence safety behaviour amongst nurses is pertinent.To what extent perceived workplace safety practices influence such behaviour is the main aim of the study.A survey among 278 nurses working in public hospitals in Malaysia was carried out to meet this objective.Using multiple regression analysis, the present study further observed that nurses’ perceived compliance with safety behaviour was significantly and positively influenced by perceived practices in co-worker safety, supervisor safety, and satisfaction with safety practices.The research findings have important implications for management of hospital on the need to enhance their workplace safety practices.

Objective: to analyze the satisfaction of patients on the quality of nursing care and patient safety. Method: this is a cross-sectional study performed at the Surgical Clinic of a teaching hospital in the Central-West Region, with 80 preoperative and/or postoperative hospitalized patients. A descriptive analysis was performed, calculating the positivity index and the mean satisfaction. Results: the female predominated (61.3%), the hygiene and comfort domain had the highest positive response rate (97.8%), most patients judged the care positively. Conclusion: the findings show the need for managers to invest in the empowerment of people and in the structure of the organization to reach patients ́ satisfaction through the quality and safety of healthcare. Background The measurement of nurse perception on safety, and the factors associated to safety climate, direct the development of effective strategies in reducing adverse events, and patient safety improvement. Design and Method This research was quantified, using the teamwork and safety climate domains of an Indonesian translated version of the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ-INA). The teamwork and safety climate domain scores were calculated, using the published SAQ-INA scoring algorithm. The univariate and multivariate median regression models were performed to examine the association between potential predictors and safety climate. Result The results showed that 279 nurses responded to the survey (82% response rate). While most of them had a positive attitude towards teamwork (n=170, 61%), fewer possessed the same mentality towards safety climate (n=109, 39%). ORIGINAL ARTICLE This study evaluated the safety attitude and determined its predictor individual and organizational variables among nurses. This cross-sectional and descriptive-analytical study was conducted on 295 nurses working in hospitals affiliated to the Babol University of Medical Sciences, northern Iran (at 6 hospitals) from Oct 2016 to May 2017. The required data was collected using two questionnaires of demographic and organizational information and Safety Attitude Questionnaire (SAQ). The data were analyzed using the SPSS Ver. 23 software. Background: This study aims at determining the perception and degree of satisfaction of health personnel involve in clinical practices with respect to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management practices, and assess the level of responses with selected OHS dimensions. Methods: A cross sectional study was randomly performed using a validated self-administered questionnaire among health personnel involve with clinical hospital based practices. Results: A total of 152 personnel took part in the study. Female (118, 77.6%) respondents were more represented in the study than men (34, 22.4%) with Mean (SD) age of 35.7 ± 8.64 years. Training and competence was perceived highest with (Mean SD, 4.14 ± 0.58) and safety goals perceived the least with (Mean SD, 2.31 ± 1.06). The study showed there was no significant effect for neither duration of service nor job position (<10 years of service Mean (SD) 2.62 ± 0.40, p>0.05 and the nurses with Mean (SD) 2.60 ± 0.41, p>0.05). Correlation analysis showed a significant correlation between OHS dimensions and safety satisfaction and feedback. Conclusion: Generally, health personnel perceived OHS dimension very low. In this study it is evident that health facilities need to step up OHS practices as well as an inclusive and committed management and supervisory skills, based on the significant correlation between some OHS dimensions and safety satisfaction and feedback among the personnel.

Head nurses play a major role in managing patient safety. To what extent head nurses in Aceh province, Indonesia here applied patient safety goals as standard guiding their management. This study aimed to identify the levels of head nurse’ management regarding patient safety in public hospitals Aceh, Indonesia. A descriptive study was conducted in fourteen public hospitals in Aceh province, Indonesia. A proportionate stratified random sampling technique was used to recruit 123 head nurses from 14 out of 21 hospitals of three geographical areas of Aceh province.
