Media Based on Technology to Study Spoken Javanese Politeness

Being able to speak using unggah-ungguh basa (speech levels) is one of the indicators of students’ speaking skill in Javanese language. The use of IT-based teaching media can be an alternative way to develop students’ speaking skill and stimulate students’ creativity, innovation, and thinking skills as well. This was a quasi experiment carried out at Senior High School in Purworejo, Central Java, Indonesia. The finding wasthe average score of the control group was 74.5 and that of the experimental group was 82.2. T-test showed that ttable was 4.87 and tcount was 2.000. The research confirms that IT-based teaching media are effective to teach Javanese speaking skill using unggah-ungguh basa(speech levels).

One of the aspiring conceptions in education is the information and communication technology (ICT) approach. Studies have proven no ambiguity in applying ICT in the learning Bahasa Melayu (Malay Language). Hence, it can enhance students' self-possessed Malay language proficiency. The focus of this study is to explore the usage of ICT as one of the core elements of educations and to determine the implementation of ICT in learning as purpose to improve students' skills and performance. Forecast the students' innovative ways in learning Malay language using internet as one of tools. The research was conducted in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (The National University of Malaysia). A qualitative method was chosen as research methodology. Data was collected by series of interviews and non participant observations from Indonesian students. This group were studying Malay language during semester II of 2009/2010. Result showed that students' learning styles significantly influence language skills. The processes on learning through internet, pointed out that it helps students to learn Malay language. Enrichments of web based learning tools in the internet helped to improve students' ability to master Malay language. Finally, internet extended learning processes and knowledge of the subject and the same time improved their proficiency in the language.

The Effectiveness of Using Indonesian Language Learning Media

Essay is related to how effective the use of Indonesian language learning media is for high school students. The use of modern learning media that utilizes communication and information technology in the era of the 21st century introduces various creative innovations in supporting Indonesian language learning to make it more interesting and arouse students' interest in learning. Of course, if the students themselves already have a great interest then the lesson information can be accepted by students easily.

Abstract Research on Computer-Assisted Language Learning, foreign language learning in particular, shows that the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) is beneficial for the development of learners' communicative competence. This paper presents the purpose, object, methodological basis and expected results of the ongoing research on this topic. Building on a brief review of the literature this study is aimed at proving the efficiency of multimedia for the development of communicative competence of students studying English for Specific Purposes.

Module Development Based on Communicative Approach to Indonesian Language Learning to Improve Speaking Skills of Elementary School Students

This research aims to improve students' speaking skills. This research is research and development, using the Four D development model, which consists of the define, design, develop, disseminate stages. This research has reached the development stage. The research was carried out at MIN 3 Langsa. The subjects in the research were 25 class III students consisting of 13 female students and 12 male students. The object in the research ismodule based on a communicative approach to Indonesian language lessons. The collection techniques used are observation, tests and questionnaires. Based on the results of validation by experts carried out on modules based on communicative approaches in Indonesian language lessons, the results of validation by language experts are in percentages 94.10% is categorized as very feasible, material expert validation with a percentage of 80.00% is categorized as feasible, and media expert validation results with a percentage 90.70% categorized as very feasible, and validated by media experts with percentages 93.45% categorized as very feasible. Based on this description, it is concluded thata module based on a communicative approach to Indonesian language lessons is suitable for use at MIN 3 Langsa. The results of the pretest were 4 students who completed and 21 students who did not complete with a percentage of 46%. Meanwhile, 23 students completed the posttest and 2 students did not complete the test with a percentage of 70%. Based on this explanation, it was concluded that using a communicative approach based module in Indonesian language lessons was said to be effective for class III students at MIN 3 Langsa. Based on the results and discussion in this research, it is known that the communicative approach based module in Indonesian language lessons is said to be very feasible and effective for use with class III students at MIN 3 Langsa.

Improving Students' Speaking through Communicative Language Teaching Method at Mts Ja-alhaq, Sentot Ali Basa Islamic Boarding School of Bengkulu, Indonesia

The main purpose of this study is to know the improvement of teaching English speaking by using Communicative Language Teaching method. The method of this research is classroom action research (CAR). The data in this research is used percentages analysis. The respondents of this research are VII A students of Mts Ja-alhaq, Sentot Ali Basa Islamic Boarding School of Bengkulu which consist of 25 students. Based on result of data analysis there are improvements on students' speaking achievement in each cycle. The data shows that in pre-assessment students' speaking is 0% (excellent), 0% (very good), 20% (good) 36% (low) and 44% (failed). In cycle I students speaking achievement is 0%

INDONESIAN Speaking Learning Material Development Based on Central Java Cultural Values for Foreign Students

Foreign students must master Indonesian in daily communication and learning process not only speaking but also written when they study in Indonesia. BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing or Indonesian for Foreigner) is familiar among foreigner especially workers who stay in Central Java. The competence of speaking can not be separated by understanding local culture. Some students got cultural shock in their first arrival in Central Java. They need a solution to be able communicate fluently and contextual way. This article discussess about how speaking learning based on Central Java cultural values develop to boost speaking competence and understanding local culture values. It is used research and development to develop the speaking material by Banyumas, Solo, and Semarang local cultures as representative Javanese people. The objectives of the research are bridging between culture and speaking competence so foreign students can stay here comfortably and preparing speaking material for foreign students to study Indonesia. This is one part of my disertation on doctoral degree in Sebelas Maret University-Surakarta.
