Islāmic Approach to Social Justice: An Analytical Study

Islām is the religion of peace and justice. The Islāmic Sharī'ah is principally based upon the benefit of the beings. Hence it is against class conflict and establishes fraternity and brotherhood in the ranks of the Ummah. As such, the Law of Islām holds that initially and essentially, all beneficial actions are legitimate, and all harmful ones are illegitimate. Justice is the fundamental principle existing in every commandment of the Sharī'ah. That is why every rule of the Sharī'ah bears witness to this generalisation when it considers human nature and its general weaknesses and basic needs. Justice is central to all the teachings and legal commandments of Islām. This paper explores the meaning of social justice. It analyses the fundamental ideals of Islām that can be considered to promote social justice, especially in societies governed by the legal system of Islām. It offers a conceptual framework primarily in light of the teachings of the Qur'ān. It also discusses the peculiar characteristics of the Sharī'ah in light of the Islāmic Concept of the relationship between God, man, and the universe and the concept of divine justice manifest at all levels of the universe.
Understanding the Islamic Paradigm of Social Justice and its Applicability
Social Justice is an important issue of contemporary relevance and has been put into debate in academia to ensure a happy and peaceful social order. It is an important branch of Justice, the concept which is vehemently presented in the teachings of Islam as the basis of faith and of a true Muslim civilization. It the concept of Justice that encourages mankind to constitute a balanced human community where each individual must feel that he forms with others a compact and solid unity, based on fraternity, social solidarity and equality of rights and duties; and where unjustified gain at the expense of other members of the community is considered an attack against the system as a whole. The present study is an attempt to revisit and explore the Islamic scheme of social justice with regard to economic stability in the society because it is usually referred to economic justice and distributive justice. The paper shall also analyse how social justice prescribed by Islam entails social interdependence, sense of duty and responsibility towards his society and taking pragmatic actions to help the needy in the society to the degree that sufficiently covers their basic needs.

SOCIAL JUSTICE IN ISLAM AND ITS RELEVANCE
The establishment of social justice has been an age-long desire of human societies. Yet, because of the intricacies of human nature and the inherent weaknesses of man, manifested in his ignorance, greed, selfishness and arrogance, the attainment of this fundamental objective has continued to elude most human socio-political entities. The history of mankind has recorded numerous social upheavals, conflicts and wars of great magnitude and with serious destructive consequences to the human race. The causes of these events and happenings are varied and numerous, but in general, all are attributable to the factor of social injustice from within and without the socio-political entities established by man. This paper seeks to explore Islamic principles regulating good governance, particularly the establishment of social justice. It argues that Governments in contemporary Muslim societies and particularly in Nigeria should evolve the most appropriate machinery that will re-invigorate all the segments of the society, harness and redirect all the potential resources of the state, and ensure the establishment of social justice and a comprehensive societal development. The Islamic principles and approaches in establishing social justice are recommended as relevant and viable options.

Islamic Education in an Open Society: Cultivating Social Coexistence
This era of globalization is bringing significant socio-political changes – modernity and open culture are no exceptions. In this regard, to form a society based on Islamic Shari'ah guidelines is attributed to popularize the Islamic education all across the globe. Islam is an institution advocating human values, i.e. tolerance, openness to truthfulness, and brotherhood. Therefore, it is an institution that teaches and cultivates universal human values to support the establishment of peace with an emphasis on the nature of Islam, i.e. tolerance and democracy, and to pay respect to every form of distinction. Various problems, the aftermath of an open society, such as the conflict of civilization or religious violence, require reformulation of Islamic education anticipatory and functionally oriented to maintain the cultural values of the human identity as well as open at developments that occur outside of a particular religion. In order to continue contributing to global peace, Islamic education in the process of teaching needs to emphasize the importance of dialogue, the exclusion of emotional attitude, and the avoidance of blind fanaticism. In addition, Islamic education should also build social cohesion through understanding, appreciation, and recognition on the basis of social justice and human dignity.
SOCIAL STRATIFICATION IN ISLAMIC EDUCATION

Stratification is the natural social reality for each individual in a hierarchical classification of status as a particular social system into layers which refer to various dimensions and are based on various rights, authorities, and obligations inherent in their social status. Education as the creator of social stratification on a macro scale, which is characterized by the emergence of the terms developed and developing countries. The concept of community-based Islamic education can certainly be a forum for the development of local wisdom, and so is local wisdom an inspiration in developing education. Education is directed at maintaining social stability on the one hand and encouraging social mobilization on the other side. Islamic education as a system, as a process and as a vehicle for study and research in order to develop various kinds of potential that exist in humans, such as nature, character, academic ability, expertise in certain fields (skills) and so on. Humans in the context of education are expected to be able and able to bridge the aspects of humanization, and can win their struggle by mobilizing all thoughts and efforts in achieving human dignity and values, trying to instill intelligence in thinking, appreciation in attitude, and experience of internalized behavior it is the Islamic values inherent in his personal interaction with his (transcendental) God, among others, and his environment. Some aspects of the formation of social stratification in society are the existence of differences over several elements that refer to something that has a price (valued) according to certain criteria dominant in the development that is considered unbalanced in carrying out social relations that are interdependent (interdependence) between individuals in community, so that it is often referred to as a result of social inequality. The Islamic perspective views that the victory of one's pressure will not appear except on the basis of mere religious (religious) aspects, so that it does not appear in groups or classes like clans, racial groups, but rather emphasizes their personalities, either individually or collectively, or as individual worshipers and social which is based on transcendental values both vertically, horizontally and diagonally as basic norms or values in living life. Basically Islamic education (source or basis of Islamic teachings) does not recognize the existence of layers, classes or groups (stratification) in the social environment, unless internalized by the values of Islamic teachings, such as Devotion, Knowledge and deeds, Level of scientific knowledge (intellect). The view of Islamic education does not see from the point of view but looks at the spiritual aspect. This will lead to the values of Islamic teachings that shape individual piety, as well as social piety. Keywords: Stratification, Social Reality, Islamic Education.

Islamic Social and Moral Education: A Comparative Study with the Western View, 2022
We attempt to introduce the Islamic approach to social and moral education in terms of three basic elements of human nature in Islamic view: a divine inclination (fitrah), dignity, and freedom. Relying on this account, three principles of Islamic social education are extracted: protection and promotion of individuality; critically analysing tradition, and overcoming self-centeredness. These principles provide a foundation by which to engage with Western social education. We argue that there are strong similarities between Islamic and Western Social education. It is argued further that even though there are some differences between the two viewpoints, this does not prevent reaching a rich dialogue between the two approaches.
