Recognized as the realistic value and hub center of learning, libraries since their primitive stage of establishment have been imparting services in teaching, learning and research. Induction of ICT in library precipitated to a change in knowledge acquisition, organization, dissemination, representation and preservation. Further, the espousal of technology precipitated many new form of learning procedures. All the developments in libraries centre round to impart services to the users. The paper focuses the pertinent issues relating to the use of library resources by the users and services imparted by the central universities of North East, India.

This study is an investigation of use of library resources, user's satisfaction in library resources and services and information seeking behaviors of the students and research scholars of Tezpur University. 200 questionnaires were distributed among students and research scholars of Tezpur University to collect relevant data. 79.5%(159) library users responded where 32.07%(51) respondents visited Central library, Tezpur University everyday for borrowing library books. It is found that 82.39%(131) users borrowed text books, (79.87%)(127) consulted journals and 75.47%(120) read news papers to meet their information needs. Library is playing vital role to meet multidimensional demands of students, and research scholar for information and knowledge. It is felt that user guidance is necessary to help library users to meet their information needs and make users aware of the available library resources and services.

In this paper an attempt has been made to describe a survey of the use of library by teachers as users of academic college libraries of Bidar and Gulbarga District of Karnataka State. A questionnaire is used to identify the impressions of users towards the awareness of library services, adequacy of library resources and their views on library services. This paper also examines the satisfaction levels of users about the library collection and mainly highlighted on the method adopted by the faculty member to promote the use of library in students. Further an attempt has also been made to highlight the findings of the study and a few suggestions have been given based on the analysis of collected data.

The purpose of the study is to find out the awareness and utilization of library services by the users of Women’s College and Tika Ram Kanya Mahavidyalaya library, Aligarh. Data for the study was collected via a well-structured questionnaire that was administered to 200 users of select libraries. Out of 200, a total of 175 questionnaires were completed and returned back by respondents, showing an overall response rate of 87.5 percent. The study reveals that highest percentage of users from WC (64.44%) and TRKM (63.53%) respectively prefer to visit library for borrowing books and all the respondents in TRKM (100%) and majority of library users in WC (97.78%) are aware about circulation service. However, 94.12% respondents from TRKM followed by WC (88.89%) prefer circulation service. The purpose of the study was to investigate research scholars (RS) and faculty members (FM) involvement in use of library, library resources, purpose behind using them and satisfaction from the resources in five university libraries of Northern India. The representative samples were selected based on sample size given by Krejcie and Morgan (1970). The representative sample was formed by taking 15% of respondents from each category from each university. The 'Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling Technique' was used. The data collected was analyzed with the help of statistical software package called SPSS and hypotheses were tested using Chi-Square test. The study was limited to five universities libraries of Northern India. No significant relationship was found in frequency of visit to the library between the research scholars (RS) and faculty members (RM) across the libraries. This paper is an attempt to understand and evaluate the use library facility and resources among research scholar in GGU, further examines in detail access and awareness, the predominant use of information resources and identify the barriers in use of library facilities and resources by research scholars. Survey method was follow to collect data. A total of 140 structured questionnaires were distributed to users and out of which 116 questionnaires were duly obtained with a response rate of 82.85%. A stratified accidental random sample method was used for selection of respondents. In this paper we found that majority of respondents 31.03% visit the library daily and 29.31% respondents visit the library once in a week, 65.52% e-journals are frequently used by research scholar and also 67.24 % of the research scholar expressed that the library has updated books are not available. It seems that library should subscribe a number of e-resources, such as e-journals, online databases, and print journals to fulfill the demand of the research scholars in their area of interest.
