Preamble Performance of any energy system is essentially governed by the amount of energy supplied to it and overall efficacy of the system. Due to intermittency associated with the renewable energy (RE) resources (solar, wind etc.) the analysis of techno-commercial feasibility of RE technologies/systems is more complex as compared with the conventional energy systems. Among all RE resources; solar radiation is most intermittent as it varies with location, season and time of the day and governed by the Sun-Earth relationship over any location. Therefore overall performance of Solar Energy systems is determined in two ways; static and dynamic (transient). The techno-commercial viability along with the designing aspects of high temperature solar thermal systems and Concentrating Solar Power projects is essentially governed by their specific energy yield.
