The role of remittances as an external source of funding is considered to be extremely beneficial for many countries, especially for those facing with large number of unemployed and a slow pace of economic development. As Kosovo faces an unfavourable economic situation, remittances from abroad have been a great support, contributing to the well-being of Kosovar families. Kosovo's economy heavily relies on the remittances of immigrants living in Diaspora, but the data and analysis regarding the extent of the remittances in Kosovo have been scarce. In this paper, an analysis will be conducted on the remittances received so far in Kosovo, focusing on their effects on the economy, and especially their impact on GDP and exports and FDI. As a conclusion, this study is expected to yield results that will reflect more in detail and more precisely as to what is the real impact of remittances in emerging economies and which have a high percentage of remittances received in general in these countries, and in particular more insights will be provided as to where Kosovo stands at this level of remittance impact on the economy.

The purpose of the paper is to study the role and impact of Remittances in supporting the economy of Kosovo. The study presents a detailed examination of the role of remittances as a source of financial support, as a complementary source of internal Investments, as well as the impact of remittances on the microeconomy and macroeconomy. The study also focused on immigrants' investments channel the funds into productive activities for generating income or increasing employment, the characteristics of Kosovar emigration, the assessment of the size, the geographical extent, the socioeconomic aspect of Kosovar emigrants and the identification of the driving factors for migration abroad, assessing the potential of remittances and finding opportunities for their orientation in function of the country's development, identification of driving and stimulating factors for maximizing shipments and channeling them from non-productive consumption to investments in the development of productive business in the country, review of experiences in other countries regarding the use and management of remittances as a factor of economic development, etc, creation of appropriate policies regarding immigration, incentives for investments, reduction of fees for the transfer of remittances and providing ongoing administrative support and other facilities. Based on the analyzes that were conducted during the work, we discover the effects and impacts of remittances on the well-being of recipients such as: improving their lives, poverty alleviation, employment growth, raising the educational level and improvement in health condition. Through the implementation of such policies, the diaspora could contribute more efficiently to raising human and financial capital, to economic growth and to the creation of new jobs in Kosovo.

This study aims to explain the positive role played by remittances in terms of development and their impact on income. In practice, remittances are regular payments of emigrants (workers who send money to their families in the country of origin). In the largest number of cases, remittances are transfers between people living in developed and developing countries, so with lower living standard. International emigration from Kosovo is among the highest in the world. Today, every third or fourth family has a family member living abroad. In globalism period, when the migration of the population is informal, migration and remittances have played an extraordinary important role on the socio-economy development of the country. As in many places that are in transition phase and in Kosovo remittance have played a positive role on the development of the country, considering the great number of the diaspora living in foreign countries. Even in the world's greatest crises, remittance has been the main pillar of a country, mainly for those countries under development. They are considered as primary incomes for many families of the countries under development and those in transitions, too. According to the researches performed during last years, it is argued that the remittance increase effect on the economic development of the country. During this paperwork will be explained the theory and practice aspects on the role of remittances on the development of such countries that receive them.

Remittances sent by the Kosovo diaspora have been and remain an important source of income for families in Kosovo. The paper deals with issues related to remittances sent to Kosovo, including the analysis of their economic effect before and during Covid19. The main purpose of this paper is to analyze remittances in Kosovo and the effect of remittances on the economy of the last years in the Republic of Kosovo. In different periods, remittances sent to Kosovo have played an important role in the economic aspect, especially they remain an important source of financing for households in Kosovo. Given that Kosovo after the last war remains among the countries with a low level of development and high unemployment, the special importance and economic effect of remittances in Kosovo has been and remains of special importance, affecting the consumption and well-being of families in Kosovo. Diaspora plays an important role in the economy of Kosovo by sending remittances, presenting an important potential not only for family economies but also for the economy of Kosovo in general. To send their funds, the diaspora uses different ways, which are generally formal and informal ways of sending money. We consider that the results and recommendations obtained from this study should be taken into account by the relevant institutions.
impact of remittances on economic growth in Republic of Kosovo

In the following analysis, a much debated topic has been analyzed with regard to remmitances and economic growth in Kosovo. The study is based on time series, quarterly data over the period 2010-2021. The methodology applied in the study is based on utilization of unrestricted VAR model and Granger Causality/Block exogeniety Wald test, in order to explore the direction of the causality between variables. Results show that there is bi-directional causality between remittances and economic growth in Kosovo in the short-run.
The objective of this study is to investigate the developmental effects of remittances on poverty, inequality and self-employment in three Balkan countries: Macedonia, Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and to put them in the light of three pertinent issues therein: ethnicity, the urban-rural divide and the gender of the household head. To that end, two waves of micro-surveys have been used in each countryone before and another during the ongoing crisis to check if the latter has changed the patterns through which remittances potentially affect the development in those countries.

Migration should be seen more as a permanent phenomenon which started long ago. Initially, as an internal migration, and later as external migration or international migration. The main reasons for Kosovo migration, according to many surveys that have been made so far are: economic, political, family reunification, education, and 1998-1999 war in Kosovo. Migrant remittances are an important source of external financing for many developing countries, and in many cases to countries that have a large diaspora, exceed the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Through, this paper will reflect a history of Kosovo migration, which speaks about advantages and Kosovo benefits by this migration, and the ways of remittance usages that support the economic growth and development of our country.
