Objectives: Menopause is the termination of a woman’s menstrual cycle for a year. In this condition, women’s health status declines due to hormonal changes and aging. Physical Activity (PA) is among the best available alternatives for managing menopause-related symptoms without any adverse effects. The association between PA and fatigue, depression, and insomnia was assessed using the Pearson correlation coefficient. The significance level was set at P≤0.05. Results: Fatigue, depression, and insomnia were more prevalent in physically inactive post-menopause women than the active women. A significant difference was observed in the outcome variables between the study groups. Furthermore, a significant association was detected between PA and fatigue, depression, and insomnia in the study participants. Discussion: Half of the explored menopausal women were physically active. Physically active menopausal women presented less fatigue, depression, and insomnia, compared to their inactive counterparts. This study suggested that PA positively impacted menopausal symptoms (fatigue, insomnia, & depression). Besides, the collected results highlighted the importance of physical activity among menopausal women.

Introduction The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between menopause related discomforts and the quality of life of Lebanese women correlated with the physical activity level, anthropometric, medical, sociodemographic and lifestyle variables, during mid-life. Materials and methods This cross-sectional study was conducted among 1113 women, recruited from different Lebanese regions. The Menopause-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire (MENQOL) was used to assess menopause related symptoms. Menopausal status was classified according to the World Health Organization's definition of menopause. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire was used to evaluate the physical activity level of participants. Anthropometric measurements were taken by the research team. Results Participants were 49.53 ± 5.74 years old and had a mean body mass index of 26.69 ± 5.37 Kg/m 2. The highest mean scores of MENQOL were found in the physical and psychosocial domains (p<0.001). Peri-menopausal women had the highest mean scores in the vasomotor, physical and psychosocial domains (p<0.001), while postmenopausal and menopausal women in the sexual domain (p<0.001). Almost half the participants (45.4%) had low physical activity level, which was significantly and inversely correlated with vasomotor, psychosocial, physical and sexual MENQOL subdomains (p<0.001). Background: The recognition of the influential factors in the reduction of quality of life and health status in women is essential to their empowerment. Objectives: The present study aimed to investigate the correlations between body mass index (BMI), quality of life, the severity of menopausal symptoms in women during menopause. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 136 women transiting to menopause, who referred to the main health centers in Javanrood city, Iran. Background: Considering the fact that, due to recent evidence, many women no longer prefer hormone replacement therapy, it is especially important to develop intervention options to alleviate menopausal symptoms. Although there is conflicting evidence concerning effectiveness, there is an indication that physical activity and weight control may be useful for alleviating symptoms. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of physical activity and body mass index on menopausal symptoms among menopausal women in Turkey. Methods: 305 women between the ages of 45 and 60 who visited the health center for various reasons were recruited into this cross-sectional study. Menopausal women, who visited one of five family physicians working in the same area, were included in the analyses. The Menopause Rating Scale, International Physical Activity Questionnaire and a generic medical and socio-demographic information questionnaire were used.

The purpose of the present study was (a) to assess the relationship between physical activity and the intensity and duration of menopausal symptoms, (b) to investigate the relationship between physical activity and the four domains of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and (c) to assess the relationship between physical activity and chronic diseases. One of the most critical stages of women's lives is menopause and one of the aims of health for all in the 21st century is the improvement of the quality of life. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of exercise on quality of life in postmenopausal women. This study was designed by a randomized-controlled trial. Eighty volunteer postmenopausal women who experience the menopause period naturally and have been taking hormone replacement treatment (HRT) were divided into two groups randomly (exercise group =40, control group n=40).The Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) was used to assess quality of life in both groups before and after 8 weeks. The exercise group participated in an exercise programmed, which was composed of sub-maximal aerobic exercises for an 8-week period 5 times a week. Quality of life in two groups was compared at the end of 8 weeks. The results showed that there was a statistically significant differences in the exercise group for the NHP indicating an improvement in the quality of life (P<0.05). We concluded that Quality of life on postmenopausal women could be improved by a regular and controlled exercise programmed of 8 weeks. Thus, implementing appropriate educational programs to promote the quality of life in menopausal women is recommended.
Perimenopausal symptoms, quality of life and eating behavior in west Algerian women
— This study was conducted to find out the impact of menopausal transition symptoms on quality of life and eating behavior in west Algerian women. Subjects and methods: A prospective cross sectional survey was conducted between February 22 and April 30, 2016 in Oran (west Algeria). Eighty (48±2 years) perimenopausal women participated to the study. A structured interview survey was developed on socioeconomic level, climacteric symptoms and quality of life. Daily energy expenditure (DEE) was assessed by an adapted questionnaire and food intake by a 24h "Recall and Record". Results. Hot flushes, night sweats, palpitations, anxiety, headaches, memory loss and insomnia were the symptoms feeling by women. The quality of life assessment showed that 53% had a moderate quality of life (10 to 15 symptoms), 16% with poor quality of life (16-20 symptoms) whereas 25% had a good quality of life (5 to 10 symptoms) and 6% of women had an excellent quality of life (≤ 5 symptoms). At this time of the menopausal transition, 64% reported modification in their eating behavior. Conclusion: Clinical symptoms of perimeanopausal period influence the quality life of women on menopausal transition.
