Effects of Solution – Focused Group Counseling on Student’s Self – Regulation and academic achievement

The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of solution-focused counseling on selfregulation and academic achievement of high school students. Solution-focused counseling was evaluated through control and experimental pretest-posttest group design. After seven sessions group counseling with students, the self-regulation and academic achievement of students in the counseling intervention group were significantly increased. Moreover, the findings indicated significant difference between control group and experimental group in post test results (p < 0/05).

Solution-focused group counseling: A solution to enhance students’ self-confidence

Self-confidence plays a pivotal role in developing an individual’s potentials. Solution-focused counseling approach views an individual as the only expert for his/her own life, and only they themselves are capable of making the best decision. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of solution-focused group counseling sessions in enhancing students' self-confidence. To this end, a pretest-posttest control group experimental study was conducted, involving twelve students of Public Islamic Senior High School 3 Langkat, who were assigned into two groups of six participants each. Data collected from self-confidence scale were analyzed using Wilcoxon Sign Test by identifying the difference in average improvement of self-confidence. The experimental group exhibited a significance value of 0.002 ( 0.005), indicating that the solution-focused group counseling could improve students’ self-confidence.

Effectiveness of a solution-based counseling on students self-perception

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of solution-based counseling to increase students` self-conception. Method of research was semi-experimental with pretest and posttest design with a control group. The study sample consisted of all high school students in Dashtestan city, Bushkan district for which 30 subjects were randomly selected and were replaced in the experimental and control groups. The experimental group received 30 sessions of solution-based group counseling. To collect data, the questionnaire of self-perception was used. Data were analyzed by covariance test. The results showed that solution-based group counseling increased students` self-perception and its components such as self-esteem and self-admission.

Closing the Achievement Gap: A Structured Approach to Group Counseling

This study evaluated the impact of a group counseling intervention on student academic and social performance. Twenty-five school counselors were trained to use a structured approach to small-group counseling with students scoring in the midto-low range in math and reading. The group intervention focused on improving student achievement and student success skills, which included academic, social, and self-management skills. Results indicated gains in reading and math achievement scores and in teacher-rated behavior related to student success skills with elementary and middle school students.

Implementation of Solutions-Focused Counseling (SFC) to Improve Student Motivation: A Single Subject Research

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of solution-focused counseling to improve student learning motivation. The research is conducted using Single Subject Research design. The research subjects were five eight-grade students who have very low learning motivation. The instruments for data collection are learning motivation scale, interview, and observation. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The findings indicated that the counseling effectively improves student learning motivation. Based on the research findings, it is suggested that counselors apply SFC in counseling both in individuals and in groups.

Group guidance services with self-regulation technique to improve student learning motivation in Junior High School (JHS)

This study aims at: determining students motivation before being given a group guidance with selfregulation technique, determining students' motivation after being given a group counseling with selfregulation technique, generating a model of group counseling with self-regulation technique to improve motivation of learning, determining the effectiveness of group counseling with self-regulation techniques to improve students motivation at JHS of 13 Semarang State. This study used research and development (R & D) method; Students' motivation increased after they follow the activities of the group with self-regulation techniques. Therefore, it proves to be effective to increase students' motivation, which is indicated by changes in student motivation before and after being given a treatment. The conclusions and recommendations of the study are: Students' motivation after being given guidance service group with self-regulation technique is categorized medium and high categories; it is found that a design of a model of group guidance with self-regulation techniques are able to improve students' motivation, the model is effective to improve students' motivation.

The Effect of Psychoeducational Group Training Depending on Self Regulation on Students’ Motivational Strategies and Academic Achievement

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of psychoeducational group study regarding self regulation in learning on motivational beliefs and academic success of students. Pre and post tests with control group design were used in this study. Participants of the study consisted of 10th grade students at Anatolian High School. ‘Motivational Strategies Scale at Learning’ and ‘Information Form’ which prepared by author was used for data collection. ANOVA and ANCOVA models were used for analizing of study data. Th e results of study showed that psychoeducational group study which was given to treatment group during 8 weeks increased motivational beliefs and academic sucssess level of students. Increase of motivational beliefs did not differentiate in terms of gender and study field of students. The results of study were discussed depending on the related literature.

The Effectiveness of Group Counseling Using SIBOL Techniques in the Academic Context

This study examines the effectiveness of group counseling using the self-instruction technique empirically based on observational learning (SIBOL) to foster a steady and great attitude in life as a student. The study used quantitative methods of “within-group or individual design” using equivalent time series, pre-test, post-test1, and post-test2 with a self-efficacy scale. The study included six students of Madiun with low selfefficacy in the academic context. Data analysis was done using the T-test calculations. It was found that group counseling through SIBOL techniques improved students’ selfefficacy, as evidenced by an increase in the students’ scores from pre-test to post-test2.
