The start of the Novel Corona Virus in 2019 has been the root cause of the severe disruption of economic opportunities and educational curriculum implementation affecting people's daily living across the world. In the field of education, the pandemic has brought changes to the educational system. A shift in the mode of learning has shifted from face-to-face to online and modular learning, wherein the former has been utilized more. This basic qualitative study was conducted to explore the experiences of students along with their recommendations to further improve the delivery of online physical education. The global emergency of Covid-19 triggered an unprecedented shift in education that brought new challenges to students and educators alike. In particular, physical education instructors face a unique set of challenges as the most subscribed pedagogical strategies revolve on on-site setting. This study explored the lived experiences of physical education instructors in distance learning education in one of the missionary universities in Baguio City, Philippines. Employing a phenomenological design, data were gathered using semi-structured interviews to explore the struggles and successes in the experiences of physical education instructors who taught combative sports in a distance learning education setting during the academic years covering 2020 through 2022. CHARACTERIZING THE EFFECTIVTY OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS IN AN ONLINE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Teaching physical education in an online environment is a challenge that can turn into an opportunity. This investigation aims to characterize how effective physical education teachers are in implementing online learning and teaching environments during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic. A content analysis was used to describe the characterization of students to teachers. The comments section of the faculty evaluation system of the university was used as a secondary source. Thematic analysis was employed to capture the students' common ideas in the comment section. Physical education teachers were characterized as having clarity of explanation for the safe and correct execution of movement activities, effective facilitators of online learning environments, and developers of a habit of lifelong health. Further, teachers display in-depth knowledge about physical education; display movement competencies, effective feedbacking, open communicator, and enabling character emerged as the emergent themes.

This qualitative study explored the PE teachers' experiences in teaching online during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines. Using the phenomenological approach, it investigated the pedagogical practices, the educational theories that guided the participants, and their reflections on teaching PE online. In order to describe the PE teachers' pedagogical practices and perspectives regarding online teaching, the following research questions guided the study: (1) What are the daily instructional practices of the participating online PE teachers? (2) What educational theories guided these participants in teaching online? and (3) What are the reflections of the participants in teaching PE online? Data collection methods for this qualitative study included: 1) interviews with online PE teachers; 2) virtual classroom observations and field notes; and 3) text messaging and e-mail communications between the researcher and the participants. Content and thematic analyses were used to interpret the results of the study. Results showed that teachers provided demonstration classes and allowed students to be creative in submitting their outputs. They practiced differentiated instruction, challenged the creativity of students, and developed innovative ways of teaching PE online. They implicitly ascribed to Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory and Bandura's Social Learning Theory. The results of this study supported the premise that college PE can be taught online and is workable during the pandemic.

This qualitative study explored the PE teachers' experiences in teaching online during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the age of COVID-19, online physical education (OLPE) has emerged as a major part of the day-today professional practice of P-12 physical education teachers and physical education teacher education (PETE) faculty. Yet little is known about what would optimize an OLPE resource from the perspective of physical educators. This study addressed this knowledge gap. A convenience sample of P-12 physical education teachers (n = 9) and PETE faculty (n = 10) was recruited to participate in six focus groups. Data were qualitatively analyzed with both deductive techniques and inductive techniques and themes across both participant groups (physical education teachers and PETE faculty) and by group were identified. Meeting the challenge of online undergraduate teacher training in health and physical education

At the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) first year undergraduate students must complete a course called EDX1450 Curriculum and Pedagogy in Health and Physical Education that is delivered at the three physical campuses and online to an average enrolment of approximately 800 students from all over the world per year. Finding ways for trainee teachers to learn how to teach Health and Physical Education through a web based learning environment is a challenge. This phenomenological study explored the Physical Education instructors' lived experiences in using Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC). The survey participants are Physical Education Instructors exposed to CMC for at least two years and were selected through the purposive sampling technique. Data were gathered using semi-structured interview guides in the In-Depth Interview and Focus Group Discussion. Thematic analysis was used to extract the themes from the participants' responses. From the data collected, major themes and core ideas emerged. In the participants' lived experiences regarding the utilization of computer-mediated communication, three general themes emerged: technology use and internet connectivity issues, triumph, and resiliency in the teaching process, and perplexity on academic instruction. The participants coped by having the fulfillment of one's duties and responsibilities, emulation of flexibility in instructions, and exploration of alternatives. Insights gained from the participants include thriving through tough times, having valueoriented instructions and achieving personal and professional growth.

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented unprecedented challenges for physical education teacher education (PETE), and PETE appears to suffer the most when transitioning from face-to- face to virtual (online) environments due to the characteristics of PE. There is no literature found to address the profound challenges and solutions for teaching PETE online that we so desperately need nowadays. The present study examined specific challenges and solutions for online PETE. Future research directions are provided.

The state of emergency, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, has completely changed the education system in Bulgaria, including the training of physical education and sports in Bulgarian schools. Physical education and sports training have been transformed into distance and online education and training. The aim of the research was to study the competencies of PE teachers in the country for the implementation of online teaching. The subject of the study was a total of 138 teachers, of whom 100 (72.5%) were female and 38 (27.5%) were male. The teachers were aged from 24 to 68 years old, with different pedagogical experience and were representatives of all regions of the country.
