Mustafa Altıntaş has his own unique place in contemporary Turkish painting art, thanks to his stylemark and pictural characteristic. Born in Konya/Akşehir, in his works he follows a blending approach of Eastern culture where he grow up and Western culture where he completed his higher education. He composes an original fantasy world by placing realistic, tangible figures in non-materialistic places. Painter prefers using lively, striking and metaphoric colors for his works; and benefits from the contrast of cold and warm colors on both sides of the scale. As he himself mentioned, he placed cintamani motif, which is sometimes get deformed by the painter however never lost its essential meaning, in his works. He interpret this motif with different point of views. Even sometimes he create his works directly from cintemani motif base. As an artist who works on painting, cinema and sculpture fields, his versatility can be followed in his works. In Tango/Circus series, which is studied in this paper, all of the painter's this personal, characteristic style can be seen. In the series completely based on a thematic ground, tango from the West is blended with the East’s cirque culture; the discrepancy between red and blue is emphasized; and male and female bodies are employed to create a moderate erotic sensation. Hereby Tango/Circus series is a quite remarkable with its colors which suddenly capture viewers, flowing figures, restless compositions and placenessless that gives one's imagination a chance.
