Conceptual Framework for Measuring Supply Chain Performance: An Innovative Approach
2007
The process of developing appropriate supply chain performance measurement instruments is difficult due to the complexity of supply chains. This paper presents an overview and evaluation of the performance measurement instruments used in supply chain models. As a result it advances a framework for developing an innovative supply chain performance measurement instrument which is generally applicable and which incorporates single
Supply chain performance measurement - an exploratory study
International Journal of Logistics Systems and Management, 2014
To stay in ever growing global market, it is an essential prerequisite to understand and practice principles of supply chain (SC). Performance of a SC is characterised by its ability to remain responsive without losing the integration through its chain. Measuring supply chain performance can facilitate a greater understanding of the supply chain, positively influence supply chain players' behaviour, operations of supply chain and improve its overall performance. This papers aims at reviewing literature related to supply chain performance measurement. It refers 89 papers from several distinguished science cited journals. It is found that several researchers have considered performance measures parameters for the supply chain measurement, however, they have not included measurement of parameters of performance for agile supply chain.
A framework for supply chain performance measurement
International journal of …, 2004
Supply chain management (SCM) has been a major component of competitive strategy to enhance organizational productivity and profitability. The literature on SCM that deals with strategies and technologies for effectively managing a supply chain is quite vast. In recent years, organizational performance measurement and metrics have received much attention from researchers and practitioners. The role of these measures and metrics in the success of an organization cannot be overstated because they affect strategic, tactical and operational planning and control. Performance measurement and metrics have an important role to play in setting objectives, evaluating performance, and determining future courses of actions. Performance measurement and metrics pertaining to SCM have not received adequate attention from researchers or practitioners. We developed a framework to promote a better understanding of the importance of SCM performance measurement and metrics. Using the current literature and the results of an empirical study of selected British companies, we developed the framework presented herein, in hopes that it would stimulate more interest in this important area. r
Performance measures and metrics in a supply chain environment
International Journal of …, 2001
In today's world, supply chain management (SCM) is a key strategic factor for increasing organizational effectiveness and for better realization of organizational goals such as enhanced competitiveness, better customer care and increased profitability. The era of both ...
The literature review of supply chain performance measurement in the manufacturing industry
2012
Accepted: 9 May 2012 The article addresses the issues of Supply Chain (SC) performance measurement -the process of qualifying the efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain. The aim of this study is to present a supply chain measurement approaches for manufacturing industry. The research is based on a review of the current understanding of supply chain management and literature related to supply chain performance measurement. This study creates a framework for supply chain measurement by presenting the main theory framework of supply chain performance measurement. It is stated that supply chain performance measurement is extremely important in developing supply chain. The measurement framework in this study offers guidelines for measuring the supply chain in manufacturing industry.
Performance Measurement: A Conceptual Framework for Supply Chain Practices
Procedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences, 2014
Measurement of Supply Chain (SC) performance with regards to key practices of SC paradigms is the area which is under research. Presently there are no guidance or set rules under which we can measure SC performance. The lack of clarity and comparability concerns in this area creates misunderstanding and makes it more difficult to formulate a clear strategy. The aim of this research is to identify antecedents of existing SC paradigm's practices, as well as antecedents for SC performance measurement to formulate a conceptual framework. Based on this research, new sustainable SC performance measurement conceptual framework is proposed for existing SC paradigms. The detailed analysis presented in this research paper offers a set of characteristics and structure that industry as well as academia could use it as a guidance framework to measure SC performance.
Measurement of Supply Chain Performance in Manufacturing
Journal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
Supply chain management has been a major component of a company’s strategy to compete each other through the increasing of organizational productivity and profitability. This paper is useful to provide an application of supply chain performance assessment in the manufacturing industry as an effort to increase the company profitability. Performance assessment metrics of supply chain provides information in the position of the company achievement. That condition capable to provide good management by an overview of the company achievements to meet customer demand. There is no measurement of supply chain performance in good condition of the company. Company problem found and finally caused by the company unable to meet demand leads the loss of customer trust. The Performance of Activity (POA) model is capable to describe the real conditions of the company’s supply chain performance. Measure the supply chain performance using POA model. POA model have 7 dimensions of assessment, namely c...
Supply Chain Performance Measurement Model: A Literature Review
International Journal of Supply Chain Management (IJSCM), 2018
Supply chain management is being envisaged as an extended enterprise connecting business in different places and facilitating allies to propel competitive advantage in the era of globalization. Substantial research has been undertaken along with literatures on supply chain performance management from cost and non-cost standpoint, strategic, functional or emphasis on operational aspects; perspectives from commercial as well as financial arenas. In order to gratify customer orders rapidly and efficiently than competitors, supply chain needs to warrant continuous upgradation of its processes and competitive strategies and to apprehend how supply chain contests? it is indispensable to realize the overall performance of the supply chain. However, still many companies miscarry to acquire effective performance measurement tools and techniques to attain integrated supply chain management (SCM). The rationale of this paper is to evaluate the literature on performance measurement for supply chain to apprehend current practices, recognize gaps and advocate future research itineraries. The paper also offers a synopsis and appraisal of the performance measurement used through different supply chain models.
Supply Chain Performance Measurement Approaches: Review and Classification
Interest in the topic of supply chain performance measurement has notably increased in the last two decades and considerable research has been conducted in this area. The objective of this paper is not just to review the advancements in theory on supply chain performance measurement per se, but rather to provide a taxonomy with which research in the field can be mapped and evaluated. The need for a structured topological approach to the development of supply chain performance measurement frameworks and methods is addressed. Findings are based on the analysis of a huge number of publications including the most recent reviews conducted in the contemporary literature (books, theses, journal articles and conference papers). The researchers believe that currently existing supply chain performance measurement frameworks can be classified into nine different types grouped according to the key criteria of measurement. This research reveals that most of the already existing approaches are static, inflexible and lack continual improvement which constitutes a gap between the theory and their potential application. Thus, future contributions to the topic are essential and possible.
Supply Chain Management (SCM) has gained significance as one of the 21 st century manufacturing paradigms for improving organizational competitiveness. Supply chain ensures improved efficiency and effectiveness of not only product transfer, but also information sharing between the complex hierarchies of all the tiers. The literature on SCM that deals with strategies and technologies for effectively managing a supply chain is quite vast. In recent years, organizational performance measurement (PM) and metrics have received much attention from researchers and practitioners. Performance measurement and metrics have an important role to play in setting objectives, evaluating performance, and determining future courses of actions. Performance measurement and metrics pertaining to SCM have not received adequate attention from researchers or practitioners. There is no systematic grouping of the different performance measures in the existing literature. The development of a framework for PM in supply chains requires generalised performance measures. This paper seeks to provide an extensive literature review for identification of performance measures, which in turn forms a basis for establishing a framework for performance measurements in supply chains.
