The Relationship Between of Knowledge Parenting and Food Intake on the Incidence of Stunting in Toddlers in Sukabumi Regency

Stunting is a condition where the measurement of height does not match or is less than the age of growth and development in children under five. The growth and development of children in infancy is important because brain cells are still growing. This study aims to determine the relationship of the knowledge, parenting, and food intake in stunting toddlers. The population was all stunting toddlers in Sukasari Village Sukabumi Regency, with a sample size of 88 participants. For sampling, purposive random sampling was used. The instrument has been verified and shown to be reliable. The relationship between knowledge with incidence of stunting was significant with p-value 0.000 (add correlation coefficient). Stunting is still a nutritional problem in Indonesia, including in South Sulawesi. The impact of stunting is very broad, starting from the individual, family, community, and country levels. This study aims to analyze the risk factors for stunting incidents in the Embo District Health Center Work Area, Jeneponto. The type of research used in this research is observational with a "Case-Control Study" (case-control) approach, namely the status of the research design carried out by identifying subjects in the form of cases, using primary data through interviews with questionnaires. The variables studied included maternal education, birth weight, birth length, and exclusive breastfeeding. The sampling technique uses simple random sampling. Introduction: Stunting is a condition of growth delay among children under five as a result of chronic malnutrition in their first 1,000 days of life. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is still above 20%. The objective of this study was to determine the correlation between mother’s knowledge of healthy food with Stunting case among children. Background: Stunting is a condition of failure to grow in toddlers due to chronic malnutrition, especially during the first 1,000 days of life. Less protein and zinc intake, history of low birth weight, and maternal height are predictors of stunting in <2 years toddlers. Objective: To analyze the stunting risk factors in toddlers in Majene Regency, West Sulawesi. Method: The case-control research design was employed for 58 cases and 58 control samples. The measurement of protein and zinc intake was completed by using a 24-hour food recall form, and the birth weight and height of the mother were obtained by using a questionnaire. The data were analyzed using odd ratio and logistic regression. Result: Those with less protein intake have a 3.34 times higher risk of stunting, while those with less zinc intake have a 34.46 times higher risk of stunting.
