In this study, the authors investigate trace fossils found on penguin bones from the Miocene Puerto Madryn Formation in Argentina. They categorize these traces to determine their origin, discussing whether they formed antemortem, perimortem, or postmortem. The stratigraphic setting of the Gaiman Formation and its geological features are also documented, highlighting complex interactions between the biota and sedimentary environments. The research contributes to the understanding of ichnological patterns and helps to reconstruct ecological dynamics in the ancient marine ecosystems of Patagonia.
