Neuro-Fuzzy Controller Design for a Dc Motor Drive

This paper presents a neuro-fuzzy controller design for speed control of DC motor. The most commonly used controller for the speed control of dc motor is the conventional Proportional -Integral-Derivative (PID) controller. The PID controller has some disadvantages like: high overshoot, sensitivity to controller gains and slow response. Fuzzy control and neuro-fuzzy control are proposed in this study. The performances of the two controllers are compared with PID controller performance. In this paper, neural networks are used in a novel way to solve the problem of tuning a fuzzy logic controller. The neuro fuzzy controller uses neural network learning techniques to tune membership functions. For the speed control of dc motor drives, it is observed that neuro -fuzzy controller gives a better response compared to other controllers.

Performance enhancement of DC motor drive using Fuzzy Logic Controller

This paper demonstrates how the performance of a DC motor drive can be enhanced using a fuzzy logic controller. The performance of the DC motor drive is judged without controller, with a most commonly used controller (Ziegler-Nichols Tuned PID) and fuzzy logic controller (FLC). For the considered system 7 fuzzy rules are framed for FLC. Comparison between the outputs in different scenario was done on the basis of the simulation result obtained by MATLAB. Finally, the result shows that the fuzzy logic approaches using the designed set of fuzzy rules enhance the performance of the DC drive system.

A Comparative Study of PI , IP , Fuzzy and Neuro-Fuzzy Controllers for Speed Control of DC Motor Drive

2010

This paper presents a comparative study of various controllers for the speed control of DC motor. The most commonly used controller for the speed control of dc motor is ProportionalIntegral (P-I) controller. However, the P-I controller has some disadvantages such as: the high starting overshoot, sensitivity to controller gains and sluggish response due to sudden disturbance. So, the relatively new Integral-Proportional (I-P) controller is proposed to overcome the disadvantages of the P-I controller. Further, two Fuzzy logic based controllers namely; Fuzzy control and Neuro-fuzzy control are proposed and the performance these controllers are compared with both P-I and I-P controllers. Simulation results are presented and analyzed for all the controllers. It is observed that fuzzy logic based controllers give better responses than the traditional P-I as well as I-P controller for the speed control of dc motor drives. Keywords—Proportional-Integral (P-I) controller, IntegralProportiona...

HYBRID FUZZY CONTROL DESIGN FOR DC MOTOR

IJCIRAS, 2021

The controlling speed for DC motors, especially in industry, is always associated with the production technology process, and it dramatically determines the quality of the products. Depending on the nature and requirements of the process, it requires appropriate control methods. To make full use of the advantages of each type of fuzzy controller and classical controller, people often use systems that combine two types of traditional and fuzzy controllers to create a controller that is the new fuzzy controller. In this paper, we present the hybrid fuzzy PID controller for controlling the speed of DC motors.

Development of a Fuzzy Controller Applied to the Velocity of a DC Motor

Control system designs are becoming increasingly complex due to the operational requirements of current processes. An alternative way to this fact is the application of intelligent systems. This work presents a design of a fuzzy controller tuned by genetic algorithm and applied to the velocity control of a DC motor. For comparative performance purposes, it is designed and applied a conventional PI controller. In general, the fuzzy controller presented a better result compared with the conventional implementation. Results from computer simulations are presented.

Stability Analysis of Systems with Fuzzy PI Controllers Applied to Electric Drives

Mathematics

This paper analyzes the stability of fuzzy control systems with applications for electric drives. Ensuring the stability of these systems is a necessity in practice. The purpose of the study is the analysis of the dynamic characteristics of the speed control systems of electric drives based on fuzzy PI controllers in the context of performing stability analyses, both internal and input–output, finding solutions to stabilize these systems and provide guidance on fuzzy regulator design. The main methods of treatment applied are as follows: framing the control system in the theory of stability of multivariable non-linear systems, application of Lyapunov’s theory, performing an input–output stability analysis, and verification of the stability domain. The article presents the conditions for correcting the fuzzy controller to ensure internal and external stability, determines the limits of the stability sector, and gives indications for choosing the parameters of the controller. The cons...
