Further it is observed that the current consumption of the system is 64.1 mA and 71.2 mA at the sensing node and coordinator respectively, when transmitted power is set at -18 dBm. The range of the system varies from 10m (indoor environment) to 30m (line of sight range in outdoor environment) at -18 dBm transmitted power, which is suitable for hospital environment.
Wireless Patient Health Monitoring System
This paper presents the development of a microcontroller based system for wireless heartbeat and temperature monitoring using ZigBee.In India many patients are dying because of heart attacks and reason behind that they are not getting timely and proper help. To give them timely and proper help first we want to continuous monitoring of patient health. The fixed monitoring system can be used only when the patient is on bed and this system are huge and only available in the hospitals in ICU. The system is developed for home use by patients that are not in a critical condition but need to be constant or periodically monitored by clinician or family.[1] In any critical condition the SMS is send to the doctor or any family member.[2] So that we can easily save many lives by providing them quick service.

Care of critically ill patient, requires spontaneous & accurate decisions so that life protecting & life saving therapy can be properly applied. Statistics reveal that every minute a human is losing his/her life across the globe. More close in India, everyday many lives are affected by heart attacks and more importantly because the patients did not get timely and proper help .This paper is based on monitoring of patients. We have designed and developed a reliable, energy efficient patient monitoring system. It is able to send parameters of patient in real time. It enables the doctors to monitor patient health parameters in real time. Here the parameters of patient are measured continuously and wirelessly transmitted using Zigbee. The project provides a solution for enhancing the reliability and flexibility by improving the performance and patient monitoring system. In the current proposed system the patient health is continuously monitored and the acquired data is analyzed at a centralized system. If a particular patient health parameter falls below the threshold value, an automated SMS is sent to the prefigured mobile number using a standard GSM module interfaced to the System. Here, we are using Zigbee for wireless transmission. The Doctor can get are cord of a particular information by just accessing the database of the patient on his PC which is continuously updated through Zigbee receiver module.
REVIEW: WIRELESS PATIENT MONITORING SYSTEM & ITS PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Care taking systems for elderly population have made patient monitoring an important area of research. Medical evaluation in these systems uses wireless technologies to transmit vital signs. This paper strives to implement a prototype to enhance performance of patient monitoring system. Proposed system measures physical parameters like heartbeat and body temperature of the patient. This work is motivated by developing an efficient wireless biometric system that simultaneously monitors multiple health parameters at a given time and transmit this information to patient monitoring system to store it permanently for future analysis. Based on this performance evaluation of sensors can be done. Although wide range of techniques are available for ICU patient's health monitoring using wired systems but this work provides a novel system where wireless sensor networks are deployed to monitor health parameters and the acquired data is transmitted to server. Zig bee wireless sensor networks are used to achieve our purpose. A buzzer is raised and the discomfort signal is communicated to the doctor through GSM module if a patient is found with abnormality.

Hence, the problem of home-care for elderly people is very important. In recently, wireless sensor networks are used to structure home-care system in many researches. Wireless sensor networks application for physiological signals communication transmission has many technologies. Such as the Infrared, Bluetooth and ZigBee, etc. Because the angle limit problem of the infrared transmission, and the infrared have not be used for Physiological signal transmission. Although Bluetooth is better than ZigBee for transmission rate, but ZigBee has lower power consumption. Hence, ZigBee is generally used for 24 hours monitor of communication transmission systems. The first procedure of the system that we use the biosensor to measure heart rate and blood pressure from human body, Using Zigbee the measured signal send to the PC via the RS-232 serial port communication interface. We can send the signal to remote PC or PDA from the internet. In particular, when measured signals over the standard value, the personal computer will send GSM short message to absent manager's mobile phone. In this paper, we presented the wireless sensor networks (WSN) to observe the human physiological signals by ZigBee, which is provided with lower power consumption, small volume, high expansion, stylization and two-way transmission, etc. ZigBee is generally used for home care, digital home control, industrial and security control. This paper developed a suite of home care sensor network system by ZigBee's characteristic, which is embedded sensors, such as the biosensor for observe heart rate and blood pressure. The biosensor transmits measured signals via ZigBee, and then sends to the remote wireless monitor for acquiring the observed human physiological signals. The remote wireless monitor is constructed of ZigBee and personal computer (PC). The measured signals send to the PC, which can be data collection. When the measured signals over the standard value, the personal computer sends Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) short message to the manager. The manager can use the PC or personal digital assistant (PDA) to observe the observed human physiological signals in the remote place.
Patient Monitoring System Using Zigbee Communication
TJPRC, 2014
A 2.4-GHz Energy-Efficient Transmitter for Wireless Medical Applications, so many medical systems based on wireless communication techniques have been developed to improve human health, such as wireless body sensor networks (WBSNs). The human body worn sensor nodes are used to monitor vital signs, such as temperature and heart rate (ECG) in WBSN. In addition, the function of the sensor nodes can be expanded to medical treatments, such as drug delivery and nerve stimulation. After the biomedical information acquisition, the signal will be preprocessed and the stored information will be transmitted by the RF transceiver to the portable base station. The sensor nodes also receive some control commands from the base station remotely. The main purpose of this project is to monitor human’s health in a wireless manner. In our project, temperature sensor, heartbeat sensors are fixed on the human body for inertial sensing. The temperature sensor will sense the human temperature. Heart Beat sensor will sense the heart beats of the patient. Corresponding Sensed signals in the form of physical values are converted into digital values using analog to digital converter which is given as input to the microcontroller. In this controller, we are keeping some threshold value if determined value exceeds, buzzer will indicate that the corresponding person gets conscious. Similarly, the sensor values are displayed in LCD through Zigbee for doctor to analyze in a wireless manner.

The design and development of a Zigbee smart non-invasive wearable physiological parameters monitoring device has been developed and reported in this paper. The system can be used to monitor physiological parameters, such as temperature and heart rate, of a human subject. The system consists of an electronic device which is worn on the wrist and finger, by an at-risk person. Using several sensors to measure different vital signs, the person is wirelessly monitored within his own home. An impact sensor has been used to detect falls. The device detects if a person is medically distressed and sends an alarm to a receiver unit that is connected to a computer. This sets off an alarm, allowing help to be provided to the user. The device is battery powered for use outdoors. The device can be easily adapted to monitor athletes and infants. The low cost of the device will help to lower the cost of home monitoring of patients recovering from illness. A prototype of the device has been fabricated and extensively tested with very good results.
