Vestigios de un pasado doliente. Los archivos audiovisuales sobre la dictadura militar en el cine documental argentino (original) (raw)
2012
Abstract
This paper examines the role that audiovisual archives have been taken into documentary representations since the twilight of the last military dictatorship until today, stopping in the analysis of some films that raise rupture and continuity with respect to the traditional ways to use the files of images and sounds. The main idea running through this paper is that although there has been a gradual expansion of the use found footage in nonfiction films of recent decades, the filmakers choose to develope relatively stable discourse functions. A visit to the Argentine documentary shows precisely that the films rarely asks questions of audiovisual materials because they are often used with functions of proof, indexical, illustrative or evocative, with the goal of supporting an interpretation of the past that predates the construction of the film.
