Preparing Gantt Chart for a Project
2017
Gantt chart is widely used to prepare a project planning and scheduling by many project managers, because of its simplicity and flexibility. The main objective of a Gantt chart is to assess how long a project should take and to establish the order in which tasks need to be carried out by the ending of the project. .to assess a project how long a project should take and to establish the order in which tasks need to be carried out by the ending of the project. In this study, we are learning how to prepare a project plan using Gantt chart with its advantageadvantages and disadvantages.
Effective communication of task-resource assignment plans comprises several challenges in important fields such as production scheduling and/or project management. Said difficulties result from the cost and sophistication level of most project planning information tools, and from the pedagogic challenge implied in getting people with different educational levels to communicate through such tools. The present work introduces the implementation grounds of a simple information technology development for the construction of Gantt charts as decision making support tools for people or companies that have limited access to sophisticated information technology tools. The implementation and execution of the Visual Basic code with Excel applications are described in detail, as well as the correct use of the Excel solver add-in from VBA macros to solve the implemented mathematical models.

Study on Process and Time Optimization using Flow Process Chart, Time Study and Critical Path
International Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering Technology, 2021
The main aim of the study is to learn and analyze the processes involved in engine repairing and reconditioning section at MSRTC, Central Workshop, Nagpur and to suggest possible Movements to optimize the process to increase efficiency and the output of the plant. There are 6 types of engines which are used in the buses and these are repaired and maintained at MSRTC. In this study the primary focus is on the two major engine types. In the 1 st phase of the study, we initially observed the industry, understanding in brief the overall process and working of the industry. The work was done at engine repairing and reconditioning unit within the industry. There were multiple processes involved starting from stripping to the testing of the engine. In the industry it was found that the main problem was that there was no fixed standard time for doing a job. Hence this resulted in the workers not working to their full potential and therefore the time they took to complete that job was more than the time in which it could have been done. Also another major problem was that the plant layout had discrepancies and flaws which violated the principles of facility layout planning. Hence to correctly estimate the man hours required to complete the job, the process was broken down into different activities and the flow process charts for various activities were plotted. It was concluded that conducting a method study and facility layout planning would help us improve the efficiency of the plant. So the process was studied and flow process charts for the various subsections of the plant were made. I.
Influence of Signs and Symbols over Efficiency Management: An Empirical study
International Journal of Applied Social Science Research, 2012
Organizations adopts specific operational activity, through certain own decided modus operandi in functional areas. Perhaps most of the organizations want to adopt, modify, & improve their process through work simplifications, for differentiating themselves to achieve competitive advantage over other competitors. It could be possible through various methods/tools at their respective workplaces. Employee involvement and developing an employee team approach for process improvement is one of the possible alternatives to improve the efficiency management in working province. Adopting changeover in processes or making modification for better fitment at work place is another sustainable, affordable and manageable option. Intention to obtain best possible efficiency management with most comfortable environment is the final objective with most of the organizations. Contemporary empirical research approach is an attempt to identify the elementary aspects, a relationship model, which is directly affecting efficiency management unanimously. The paper attempted to explore the relationship between processes adopted in various organizations, time of work associated with the processes and efficiency management required in various business operational activities. These relationships have hidden influence of communication either adopted or utilized; this communication could be utilized in effective manner by introducing or implementing signs and symbols within the organization domain. The paper was able to explore that there is a significant influence of signs and symbols in a particular model, among three aspects; processes, time of work and efficiency in work.
Productivity Improvement Through Time and Motion Method
International Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2020
Economies of scales and scope approaches contributes towards the effective use of resource utilization which alternatively results in production enhancement, and improvement in economics indicators. Among various approaches to accomplish the concept of scale production, time and motions study plays a vital role to visualize and enhance the resource consumption and its economic value. In this paper, an implementation approach of time and motions mechanism is applied to track a manual task with the help of a kinematic model from images. The current method practiced in the industry is segregated according to different operations in the manufacturing setup and analyzed on the basis of charts, capturing frames of workers motions. At certain stages stopwatch technique is also used. The results of this research indicate that company's overall performance has significantly increased with the reduction in process duration.
EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT THROUGH PERT ANALYSIS
Now a day's mass housing construction projects are common in India. There are so many approaches have been used for repetitive construction projects towards optimizing time and cost. In this project we have implemented a proposed theoretical model for effective utilization of labour to get optimum duration and cost. Generally critical path method is used for repetitive type of construction but in this project we use programme evaluation review technique to find the duration of project. There are many resources which affect the project time and cost like material, money, machinery, space etc. But from the literature survey it is observed that now a day's the labour is major resource which affects the productivity of project. Labour absenteeism rate is about 5% to 25% in construction projects, which is vary according to the size of projects. There are so many factors affecting the labour absenteeism. The study of these factors is necessary because by studying these factors we get an idea about the labours problems. Once we know about the labour problems we can solve their problems, we can provide a various facilities by which labours get satisfied. So in this way we can reduce the absenteeism rate of labours by solving their problems and by providing good facilities to them. The goal of any construction project is to complete the project within the estimated time and with minimum cost. The delay in a construction projects affects both owner and contractor. The main goal of this study is to find out the optimum duration for the completion of project. Because we know that if the project duration is minimum then project cost is automatically reduces. In this project the data is collected from the mass housing construction project. The expected time for the completion of project is finding out by using the programme evaluation review technique. Now the collected data is analysed and find out the optimum duration and cost. We know that the construction industry is a second largest industry in a world. The development of such industry plays an important role in a developing country like India. So for that it is necessary to improve the productivity of construction industry
Optimum management of time as an important practice for boosting productivity in organizations
European Online Journal of Natural and Social Sciences, 2014
Starting point of obtaining skills in time management is individually different. Most people think they can get better than what they are with the help of time management. The best opportunities or the worst ones usually occur at unexpected time which we might not be ready for. Here, the question is "what is time management ?". It can be said it is the best use of seconds and opportunities one faces. Therefore, in this paper, efforts has been done to provide practical ways so as to use the time in an optimum way. By definition, time management is determining main purposes as a first step and writing them down on a paper followed by next and main step: regular planning as well as hard efforts which finally lead to aims access. However ,in the case of absence of one of the mentioned factors ,it would be either impossible to realizing aims or you may be exercised lots of expenses leading to no qualitative results.

The challenges in project management are to deliver projects faster, better, and cheaper. One of the major problems in construction that affects the success of the project is the delays. Unprecise project schedule and inefficient resource management can lead to project delays and cost overruns very easy. Another problem in construction is an excessive amount of waste. The Line of Balance (LOB) method is advantageous over other scheduling techniques in repetitive projects because it maintains work continuity and minimizes working team idle time. Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a lean construction tool, which visualizes and optimizes the processes in the projects by eliminating waste and producing continuous flow. Although both tools LOB and VSM are proved to be powerful tools, limited research was focused on combining the features of the tools. The objective of this study is to create a model to optimize the project duration scheduled with the LOB technique with the help of VSM. The mo...
