Abstract

This article makes reference to the development of performance as a field within the graduate programs in Brazil. At the same time, the author defends that performance should be accepted as an intellectual activity. He also proposes more interaction between the four sub-areas of music, as defined by CAPES, and suggests new directions to the development of music, both as art and academic area.
