Spectral theory for polynomially demicompact operators
Filomat, 2019
In this article, we introduce the notion of polynomial demicompactness and we use it to give some results on Fredholm operators and to establish a fine description of some essential spectra of a closed densely defined linear operator. Our work is a generalization of many known ones in the literature.
Spectral properties for generalized weakly S-demicompact operators
Linear and Multilinear Algebra, 2020
In this paper, we introduce the concept of generalized weakly S-demicompact operators with respect to a weakly closed linear operator S. We study the general setting of Fredholm theory. We give some perturbation results on the behaviour of relative essential spectra of the sum of two bounded linear operators by means of the relative essential spectra of each one. A characterization of generalized weakly S-demicompact operators by means of measures of weak noncompactness is given. Moreover, we impose some sufficient conditions on the inputs of a closable block operator matrix to ensure the generalized weak S-demicompactness of its closure.

In the first part of this paper we show that, under some conditions, a polynomially demicompact operator can be demicompact. An example involving the Caputo fractional derivative of order α is provided. Furthermore, we give a refinement of the left and the right Weyl essential spectra of a closed linear operator involving the class of demicompact ones. In the second part of this work we provide some sufficient conditions on the inputs of a closable block operator matrix, with domain consisting of vectors which satisfy certain conditions, to ensure the demicompactness of its closure. Moreover, we apply the obtained results to determine the essential spectra of this operator.
Relative essential spectra involving relative demicompact unbounded linear operators
Acta Mathematica Scientia, 2014
In this article, we introduce the concept of demicompactness with respect to a closed densely defined linear operator, as a generalization of the class of demicompact operator introduced by Petryshyn in [24] and we establish some new results in Fredholm theory. Moreover, we apply the obtained results to discuss the incidence of some perturbation results on the behavior of relative essential spectra of unbounded linear operators acting on Banach spaces. We conclude by characterizations of the relative Schechter's and approximate essential spectrum.
Some Fredholm Theory Results Around Relative Demicompactness Concept
2021
In this paper, we provide a characterization of upper semiFredholm operators via the relative demicompactness concept. The obtained results are used to investigate the stability of various essential spectra of closed linear operators under perturbations belonging to classes involving demicompact, as well as, relative demicompact operators.
Characterization of Relatively Demicompact Operators by Means of Measures of Noncompactness
The Korean Mathematical Society, 2018
In this paper, we show that an unbounded S 0-demicompact linear operator T with respect to a bounded linear operator S 0 , acting on a Banach space, can be characterized by the Kuratowskii measure of noncompactness. Moreover, some other quantities related to this measure provide sufficient conditions to the operator T to be S 0-demicompact. The obtained results are used to discuss the connection with Fredholm and upper Semi-Fredholm operators.
Some results in Fredholm theory via the measure of noncompactness
Applied Mathematical Sciences, 2015
Let A be a bounded linear operator in a complex Banach space X. We show that Id X − A is a Fredholm operator provided that A has a sufficiently small polynomially measure of noncompactness. In our general framework, we note that the case of Riesz operator becomes a particular one as it is for the other results in the domain. This enable us to obtain a new characterization for the Weyl essential spectrum of a closed densely defined operators.
On polynomially bounded operators with rich spectrum
Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1995
D. Westood (J. Funct. Anal. 66 (1986), 96-104) proved that C 00 {C_{00}} -contractions with dominating spectrum are in A ℵ 0 {\mathbb {A}_{{\aleph _0}}} . We generalize this result to polynomially bounded operators.
Linear and Multilinear Algebra, 2019
In this paper, we use the concept of demicompactness, introduced by Petryshyn [Construction of fixed points of demicompact mappings in Hilbert space. J Math Anal Appl. 1966;14:276-284], in order to give a new characterization of the essential spectra of a 2 × 2 block operator matrix and to develop some perturbation results. Furthermore, we apply the obtained results to study some systems of differential equations and investigate the essential spectrum of two-groups of transport operators.
