MIS is a subset of the overall planning and control activities covering the application of humans, technologies, and procedures of the organization. . The information system is the mechanism to ensure that information is available to the managers in the form they want it and when they need it.

Decision-making with Technology

In every organization decision-making is an integral part of the management process. Technology is booming and in decision-making, it is taking key responsibilities. Every company deals with a huge amount of data from various sources daily and operating with the volume of data is absolutely astounding compare to what the organizations used to do decades ago. In today's world, business intelligence tools are very important components of any successful business strategy. These tools allow users to modernize the effort needed to search for, combine and query data to obtain the information required for good decisions. In this article, we will discuss the technology trends in decision-making, the capabilities of technology in managerial decision-making and the cognitive ability of decision-making. We will also discuss supervised and unsupervised learning of machine learning techniques, how artificial neural nets (ANNs) use supervised learning to predict outcomes in decision-making with real-world examples.

Application of Information Technologies for Management Decision Making in the Conditions of the Instability of the External Economic Space

International Journal for Quality Research, 2022

The objective of the article lies in determining the place of information technologies in the process of making management decisions, as well as determining the current level of their implementation with the formation of forecasts for the near-term prospect. Methodology. The assessment of the level of information technology development has been carried out on the basis of Statista (2021) and Gagliodi (2020) data by applying deduction methods, graphical and comparative methods. Results. The analysis of statistical data has revealed that the growth rate of the use of information technology in management decision making has slowed down in 2020-2021. The data obtained show that the IT market is currently focused on the supply of devices and software for remote working. Services on supporting decision-making are used less often, although in the current unstable environment, they should be the ones to pull the focus of leaders onto themselves.

Information systems that Really support decision-making

Lecture Notes in Computer Science, 1999

Decision makers are expected to make decisions which have a positive effect on the future of their enterprises. We expect that intelligent information systems support their activities. Today, databases and webbased resources, accessed through effective communications, make information about the past rapidly available. To project the future the decision makers either have to use intuition or employ tool for prediction, and initialize such tools with information obtained from an information system to such tools. An effective information system should integrate forecasting the future, and because there choices have been made, such a system must also support the comparative assessment of the effects of alternate decisions. The complexity of an information system handling the past, and multiple futures will be great, and must be modularized with effective interfaces. We recommend the use of an SQL-like interface language to access existing tools to assess the future, as spreadsheets and simulations. Making results of simulations accessible as another contribution to integrated information systems has the potential of greatly augmenting their effectiveness and really support decision-making.
