IoT Based Approach for the Increased and Improved sales for the Brick and Mortar Stores
International Journal of Advanced Trends in Computer Science and Engineering, 2020
The consistent use of smartphones in daily life has brought the wave of online shopping and digital marketing into action. Over the last few years, brick-and-mortar store owners have increasingly seen consumers migrate away from retail stores in favor of convenient and quickly accessible digital outlets. Many shoppers feel that, with the ease of smartphone and "one-click" shopping, browsing for products in a physical store is almost obsolete. However, what if the very same technology that caused this crisis in retail industry could be used to drive customers into their stores? Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons provide a great way to guide customers through a larger store and find the intended product. In addition to customer convenience, beacons are a powerful tool for storeowners to deliver targeted product recommendations. Thus, the overall solution consists of two components-Proximity sensing and Product recommendation systems. When a customer comes into the proximity of a particular section of a store, the recommender system generates total and personal recommendation for the customer. The matching entries between recommended products and products from the particular section are the final optimized recommendation delivered to the customer via mobile application. Product recommendations are powered by the purchase history data of Future group stores. That way a new lease of life can be brought to struggling brick-and-mortar stores.
The Internet of Things: Revolutionizing the Retail Industry
SK International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research Hub, 2019
The internet has already connected people with people. Its reach is growing faster to modify even the way things are connected to each other. Internet of Things is transforming and revolutionizing every aspect of our lives. This technology (IoT) has evolved, which connects different devices through sensors, software, and electronics for seamless information sharing. Retailers, with the adoption of IoT technology they are opening up all possible delivery channels to ensure smooth shopping experiences for customers. Along with exploring innovative delivery services, the IoT technology is also used in the retail sector for improving e-commerce and in-store experience of shoppers. 78 percent of retailers agree with the idea of implementing IOT in retail industry to improve the level of production in store. Internet of Things helps them to track the store visitor and provides them with immediate alert to employer if a visitor needs assistance. Other customer-related information is gathered using this technology by using previously visited data or it creates a new data about the visitor. Sensors fixed at dissimilar place of a store can follow shoppers’ actions, and remain employers on their toes to help them as soon as they need any help.

A Holistic Architecture for a Sales Enablement Sensing-as-a-Service Model in the IoT Environment
Information
Sales enablement sensing-as-a-service (SESaaS) is an organisation’s future process management for any sales management operation. With an expanding base of dynamic customer demands and the adoption of multiple technological advancements, there is a high possibility that human-centric sales management will be transformed into a fully automated form aimed at increasing productivity and being able to cater to effectively a broader customer base. A review of the relevant literature demonstrates that machine learning is one of the most prevalent techniques in analytics for predicting sales behaviour. However, SESaaS includes many features beyond the sales component. Internet-of-Things (IoT) can additionally be used for networking and data analytics to enrich sales data. Therefore, the proposed scheme introduces a novel SESaaS model capable of balancing the sales team’s needs with those of the customers to maximise profits. The proposed model also presents a novel learning scheme in the I...
IoT based temperature and humidity monitoring framework
Bulletin of Electrical Engineering and Informatics
This study explored the use of Internet of Things (IoT) in monitoring the temperature and humidity of a data centre in real-time using a simple monitoring system to determine the relationship and difference between temperature and humidity with respect to the different locations of measurements. The development of temperature and humidity monitoring system was accomplished using the proposed framework and has been deployed at the data centre of Politeknik Muadzam Shah, where the readings were recorded and sent to an IoT platform of ATT M2X to be stored. The data was then retrieved and analysed showing that there was a significant difference in temperature and humidity measured at different locations. X The monitoring system was also successful in detecting extreme changes in temperature and humidity and automatically send a notification to IT personnel via e-mail, short messaging service (SMS) and mobile push notification for further action.

Enhancing Refrigerated Warehouse Capacity by Analyzing Spatial Temperature Differences with IoT
IRJET, 2022
Refrigerated warehouse is a critical element in the supply chain of perishable goods. The specified storage conditions are to be adhered to in spite of varying ambient conditions due to different geographic locations in country like India. Even inside a fair-sized refrigerated warehouse or a cold storage non uniformity of values for critical parameters like temperature and humidity is unavoidable. In the given situation variation of critical parameters vis-à-vis spatial location of the vantage point in the observable storage space of a refrigerated warehouse storing perishable spices is analyzed. To monitor the parameters at 3 different locations of each of the 5 floors, readings are noted using IoT techniques. Cause and Effect diagnostics is used to identify and correct the problematic locations to enhance the storage capacity of the warehouse.

In recent years, energy-savings policies have affected many aspects of everyday life. Considering a typical building, the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system is the most energy-consuming system. This consideration is especially true for large public-access buildings, such as schools, and public administrations. In these cases, the energy saving of buildings depends on the capability to optimise the behaviour of the HVAC. Typically, the HVAC control system is based on static models of the building, which consider the average occupancy rate of each of the rooms. On the contrary, in this research work, a cognitive system based on an occupancy rate model that is able to take into consideration user habits and indoor air quality (IAQ) provided by IoT sensors is considered for the control of HVAC systems. This approach has been applied to the eLUX lab building of the University of Brescia, Italy. Data provided by IoT IAQ sensors (temperature, relative humidity, CO2) i...
