Managing the creative process in organizations

This chapter discusses how creative behavior can be increased and managed in organizations. Variables associated with nurturing creative activity are identified. The chapter first presents a theoretical model of organizational creativity, and then discusses empirical research on the model as it is applied. Finally, the chapter discusses future applications and tests of the model. THE BASIC MODEL Organizational creative behavior can be defined as a three-stage process of problem-finding, problem-solving, and solution implementation activity. This process is identified as a complete process of creative problem solving. What is meant by a complete process of creative problem solving is that it is based on two central, fundamental concepts. First, it has distinct stages. It separates problem finding from problem solving and solution implementation. The second important feature of the process is that within each of the three critical stages, there is a common, fundamental, miniprocess. This is a sequential two-step thinking process called ideation-evaluation. Ideation is defined as idea generation without evaluation (putting aside the judgment capability). This is the diverging aspect of the two-step process. Evaluation is the reverse. It is defined as the application

Workplace environment is defined as the current conditions of the surroundings of a workplace. More than 80% of performance problems are influenced by the workplace environment where efficiency of workplace environment represents the total amount of work done by one employee in a single day. There are different types and traits of employees in Architectural Design firms , where only 5 types are being analyzed in this research paper which encounters; creative, innovative ,Talented , Technical & Analytical Architects that should be considered to achieve an efficient workplace environment. Hence , The Problem of this paper the inefficient management creating inefficient management for architects results in the dissatisfaction of employees while boosting the rate of turnovers impacting the productivity negatively. One approach that has been introduced to tackle such problem is creativity management which could embrace the 5 types of employees in Architectural design firms. Thus, the main purpose of this study is introducing how creativity management approach can effect the workplace environment and increase its efficiency in Architectural design firms. To achieve the aim of this paper , a comprehensive literature review analysis has been done on recently published Research papers from 2000 to 2018. This includes discussing the contribution of authors on the approaches for efficient workplace environment , and introducing creativity management approach in workplace environment in Architectural Design firms. Hence, Findings of this paper took the form of impact analysis , where the effect of creativity management approach on achieving efficient workplace has been identified.

This research was conducted with the aim of studying the impact of managers ' leadership style on employees ' creativity with considering the mediating role of organizational structure in Metal Industries of Kaveh Industrial City at 2012. The populution of the research was including 4700 employee involved in metal industries of Iranian Kaveh Industrial City and among whom, 355 people was considered as sample by using Cochran formula and sampling method of rational random classification. Creativity training in organizations: a ready-to-implement concept

This article—published in the Journal Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation.—provides a ready-to-implement creativity training concept with elements of Design Thinking. Although organizations have expressed an increasing interest in creativity training to help their employees become more creative and innovative, recent research indicates effective creativity training is still lacking. The training course described in this report fills this organizational human resource development requirement for practical, effective idea generation techniques. It focuses on increasing the creativity performance during the Design Thinking idea generation phase. The training concept is designed for a one day onsite workshop with up to 40 participants.

Optimising creativity management: problems and principles

This paper explores the problem of optimal management of creativity to develop and mobilise employee creativity in more effective ways. Optimising creativity management presumes interventions for employee creativity development and the improvement of the work environment for creativity, which are most relevant to the specific organisation, its goals, objectives and resources. This paper identifies the main principles and problems of optimising creativity management, as well as cognitive blocks to such optimisation. This study also allocates specific functions of creativity management research and development management and innovation management to define where these functions overlap and can be coordinated. Optimising approaches to managing creativity indicate prospective directions both for theoretical investigations and practical techniques to manage employee creativity more systematically and methodically.

Defining and understanding the notion of creativity in business: an employee perspective from sales industry in Dubai, UAE

This paper looks at the value and benefits of creativity in the workplace, with insights from a participant who runs a start-up hair product company. By doing a case study on a specific firm, the goal of this paper is to acquire a comprehensive understanding of what creativity is and its vital application or impact in management. It also analysed the importance of creativity at an organizational and individual level using data gathered from a sales manager from Dubai Duty Free Airport, UAE. This study utilised qualitative case study method to collect data to fulfil the aim of having indepth knowledge of the concept as well as to examine the significance and effect of creativity at an organizational level. The researchers gathered the primary data through an in-depth interview with the participant. The thematic content analysis method is utilised to analyse the obtained data. This study concludes that creativity is applied to create value for customers. As mentioned by the interviewee, a personalized approach should be considered for every customer to ensure that their specified needs are achieved.
