Teacher-Efficacy for using HOTS Pedagogy in the Classroom
When considering the educational context and expectations of our teachers today, an evaluation of teacher-efficacy in promoting higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in the classroom is more important than ever. Promoting these skills as illustrated in Anderson and Krathwohl's (2001) taxonomy of educational objectives, through pedagogical techniques, provides an opportunity for students to develop metacognitive skills for learning. The literature stresses that the confidence that teachers have in actually promoting these skills (also known as teacher-efficacy (Bandura, 1986)), is important to bridging the gap between pedagogy and development of student thinking skills. The aim of the study was to validate an instrument that could evaluate teacher-efficacy in promoting HOTS in the classroom. A total of 77 elementary teachers New England completed a 28-item survey comprised of three hypothesized factors. The results from a factor analysis and reliability analysis produced a 17-item, two-factor structured instrument which included Interactive, Critical Thinking and Metacognitive Strategies pedagogy, to evaluate teacher-efficacy and HOTS. Limitations and future directions of this study are discussed.

Universal Journal of Educational Research, 2022
This study was to determine the perception of secondary school teachers on the competency and application of HOTS in teaching and learning in the classroom. The survey results with this quantitative approach involved 187 secondary school teachers in the Jeli district. The questionnaire instrument used had been modified according to the research needs of the researcher. Statistical methods used descriptive statistics, mean and inference statistics through Pearson's correlation to examine the relationship between teacher competence and the application of teaching and learning among teachers. The findings show that teachers 'perceptions of teachers' competencies and the application of teaching and learning of HOTS in terms of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment are moderate. The analysis showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between teacher competency and the application of teaching and learning in HOTS among teachers. In conclusion, this study is expected to assist teachers, schools, PPDs, JPNs and the education ministry in efforts to improve the successful implementation of teaching and learning in the education system. Ongoing support and development from all sides are essential. Teachers need to equip themselves with the knowledge and practice them in the teaching and learning process to enhance HOTS.

4TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FRONTIERS OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING (FBSE 2021)
Providing high-order thinking skills is one of the main goals in the 21st-century learning concept which aims to form toughness and high-quality thinking skills in analyzing, evaluating, and looking for alternative solutions to the problems at hand. One of the efforts that can be made to improve teacher competence in the 21st-century learning concept is by organizing a Professional Development Program (PK) through Increased Learning Competence (PKP). This research is a quantitative study using the one-group pretest-posttest design method. The population in this study were subject teachers throughout Bogor Regency. Sampling was carried out using convenience sampling. The sample of this study was 20 junior high school mathematics teachers in Bogor Regency. The 20 teachers are called target teachers The objectives of this study were 1) how is the provisioning process for target teachers in Bogor Regency to have learning competency skills that can train students in solving HOTS questions, 2) whether there is an increase in the learning competence of target teachers. This research is a quantitative study using the one-group pretest-posttest design method. Statistical tests were carried out twice, namely before the training process (pretest) and after the training process (posttest). The instrument used in this study was a test question. The test instrument consists of a comprehension ability test in the form of short answers and problem-solving in the form of a description. The material being tested was HOTS-based junior high school mathematics. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that (1) The process of debriefing the target teachers (impact teachers) in the Bogor Regency was carried out for 5 days. The material given is grouped into 4 families, namely Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, Number Theory, and Statistics and Chances. The Effect of Teacher Competency Training on High Order Thinking-Based Learning
Journal of Early Childhood Care and Education
High order thinking (HOT) -based learning in Early Childhood Education Institution (ECEI) could improve six aspects of preschool-aged children’s development. The preliminary study revealed that the ECE teachers' knowledge of preschool-aged children was low. This surprising phenomenon was caused by teachers' lack of knowledge and minimum training for improving the teachers' competency. Thus, we conducted a study by holding training on the improvement of teacher's competency in HOT-based learning. The present study involved sixty participants comprising Kindergarten and elementary school teachers in Kota Selong, West Nusa Tenggara Province. The present study was aimed at measuring the effect of teacher's competency development training on the improvement of HOT-based learning activities in Kota Selong, East Lombok Regency. Higher-order thinking skills (HOTs) are very crucial thinking skills needed by teachers to train students to develop 21st-century learning. This study aimed to develop Multiple Choice and Essay Questions to measure the HOTs of the prospective teachers of the elementary school education department. This study used a 4-D model by Thiagarajan which involved experts at natural science, evaluation studies, and primary school pedagogy in the content validation. We also involved 156 prospective teachers as the test subjects. The assessment of instrument quality by experts showed that the question quality was very good. This research succeeded in developing 10 multiple choice questions and 5 essays. The validity test by Rasch Model showed that there were 7 multiple choice questions classified as fit, and 3 questions were classified as a misfit, while the 2 essay questions are invalid and the other (3 questions) as valid. The reliability test with KR-20 on multiple-choice questions and Cronbach's alpha for the essay questions resulted reliable questions. The discrimination index showed discarded, sufficient, good, and very good. The item difficulty index showed that 3 questions are moderate (num 7, 1, 5) and 7 questions are difficult (num 4, 10, 6, 3, 2, 8, 9). The distractor efficiency showed that 59.2% of distractors worked, and 40.8% did not work. This instrument can be used to analyze prospective teachers' HOTs. This data can be used as the reference for developing competency improvement programs for prospective teachers, for example through the HOTs-oriented learning models.
