The culture of Hızır and İlyas, Hıdırellez is a belief that has been maintained long years as a folk belief. When extensive research has been done to retrace of faith, we see that all the teachings about Hızır and İlyas Cult that we have learned folklorically are keep alive for years. No matter how different Hızır and İlyas are described in theological researches, in the eyes of folk, Hızır which is attendant in sea and İlyas which is attendant in land are brothers and friends each other and they help whose need them. As a more common form of belief, Hızır and İlyas are only the same people. Some texts which feed the people's belief, stories, legens have reached to nowadays by telling as a orally. In Hıdırellez culture, which is expressed as the day when Hızır and İlyas meet, took places together celebration, playing various games and visiting shrine besides beliefs about fire cult from the beliefs of Turks before Islam. Although similar celebrations are held with the same beliefs all over Anatolia, we see that there are different applications according to the regions. In the study, the emergence of Hızır and Ilyas culture which is common in Anatolia, its historical development, its belief and applications, ın terms of sociology of religion based on the data obtained from İzmir sample is analyzed.
