Assessment of Entrepreneurial Development and Job Availability in South East Nigeria

The research develop the concept of entrepreneurship, the benefits and need to adhere strictly to economic development, job availability, modernization and industrialization through entrepreneurial development in South East Nigeria. The study reviewed several studies on entrepreneurial development in Nigeria, Africa and beyond. The study employs survey research design. The analysis employ mean scores and correlation tools to analyze the respondent questionnaire, in order to understand what the data is informing the researcher. The results show strongly agree and agree are significant with significant value of 0.000 and the mean score of 4.0 approximately, which implies that the alternative hypothesis will be accepted. Having assessed the study, the decision rule implies that entrepreneurial development has effective benefit to job availability in South East Nigeria.

This paper examined the inadequate entrepreneurship skill among the Nigerian youths and its contribution to unemployment rate in Nigeria. Some variables were identified as possible problems of acquiring entrepreneurship skills in Nigeria. The study focuses on ways that is needed and used to conceive and commercialize business opportunities. Entrepreneurship Uptake A Solution to Unemployment Challenges in Developing Countries: A Study of Nigeria

The increasing rate of unemployment across states of most developing countries is gradually becoming too much to handle for most of their government. It is however evidence that if unemployment rate is allowed to continually grow, couple with mass retrenchment or sack of staff and increasing the population, then the nation is heading towards a shutdown. This study examines entrepreneurship a Solution to unemployment challenges in developing countries: a study of Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive design in the conduction of this study among entrepreneurs spread across six states within the southwestern geopolitical zone in Nigeria. Data were collected from primary sources through the administration of questionnaire to 323 respondents selected using the Area Sampling Technique; and they were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The result of the study revealed that, Factors militating against adoption of entrepreneurship in Nigeria include government policy, Availability and sources of fund, Inadequate knowledge of areas to explore and Family background. Other findings revealed that; entrepreneurship would influence unemployment challenges. Since it helps to improve individual financial capacity, standard of living of the people, faced out Unemployment, turn youths away from all forms of violence and help reduce the poverty level in the country. More findings revealed that, in other to make entrepreneurship attractive to young people, entrepreneurship studies in tertiary institutions should be reviewed and should be practical oriented, government at all level should organize entrepreneurship workshop and seminar in place of worship, communities and other areas of concentration to include other youths, government should endavour to make soft loan available for entrepreneurs to enable them improve on their productivity, entrepreneurs should be assisted financially (subsidizing cost) to attend international conferences to help and all media platforms should be engage in the campaign for adoption of entrepreneurship using every Nigeria languages.

Entrepreneurship Development and Unemployment Reduction in Nigeria: A Survey of Public Opinion in Selected Nigerian Cities

The paper discussed entrepreneurship development and unemployment reduction in Nigeria. It views entrepreneurship development as capacity building for self-employment. It assumes a direct relationship between entrepreneurship development and unemployment reduction. The research question addressed the extent of the relationship between entrepreneurship development and increased employment opportunities/enhanced economic growth in Nigeria. This study investigates the relationship between Entrepreneurship Development and employment reduction in Anambra State, Nigeria. The research focused on youths of five selected Local Government Council of Anambra state, Nigeria. Data were collected using questionnaire from an infinite population of the selected Local Government Council. Samples of 30 youths were drawn from the population of each Local Government through a convenience sampling technique. A total of 150 youths were sample for the study. However, four hypotheses were tested; the first, second and third hypotheses were designed to investigate the relationship between Entrepreneurship training and unemployment reduction; the relationship between Entrepreneurship traits and unemployment reduction; and the relationship between Entrepreneurship empowerment and unemployment reduction respectively. The fourth hypothesis was on the examination of entrepreneurship challenges affecting unemployment reduction. The test conducted shows that the variables in Ho1, Ho2 and Ho3 were significantly and positively related and Ho4 was also significant. The study recommended that Government should strive to reduce the cost of doing business in Nigeria. Unemployed youths in Anambra State should also be strengthened to embrace entrepreneurship devoid the imitation and vocational inclinations.

Reducing Unemployment in Nigeria: an Evaluation of the Entrepreneurship Programme in Ondo State

The study evaluated the entrepreneurship programme in Ondo State. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study and was conducted in Ondo State. Three research questions guided the study. The target population of the study comprised individuals within three local governments: Akoko North East, Akure North and Okitipupa, in Ondo State, Nigeria. Stratified sampling technique was used within the three local governments which differ by their languages. Thereafter, while using a purposive sampling technique, a total number of five hundred (500) respondents were engaged in the study. Respondents were chosen from Akoko North-East, Akure North and Okitipupa. The number of respondents in each of the sampled local government include: Akoko North East (200) respondents, Akure North (150) respondents; and Okitipupa (150) respondents. In total, 264 men and 209 women were engaged.The researchers' developed instruments titled ‘‘Evaluation of Entrepreneurship Programme Questionnaire’’ (EEPQ) was used for data collection. The face validation of the instrument was established by three experts, two in the Department of Guidance and Counselling (Assessment and Testing Unit), University of Ibadan and one in the Department of Educational Management and Policy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Test retest was used to determine the reliability of the instrument and the overall scale was conducted for the interval of three weeks. The reliability coefficient of 0.78 was obtained. The researchers with the help of the community heads in each of the town collected data for the study. Out of the five hundred questionnaires administered, four hundred and seventy three (473) were returned in good state and were therefore subjected to analysis. Data collected on the study were analyzed using frequency count, percentage, and mean. The findings of the study revealed among others that respondents were aware of the government and non-governmental entrepreneurship programs for poverty reduction. The study concluded among others that Ondo State people do not possess adequate entrepreneurial skills for reducing unemployment. Recommendations were made.

Entrepreneurship Development in Nigeria: a Socio-economic, Political and Security Perspective 1 2

The importance of entrepreneurship to any state and its socio-political, economic, societal thrive and stability cannot be over emphasized. Entrepreneurship is thus, a major segment in every state's socioeconomic and sustainable development which provides substantial employment, growth and development to the economy, socioeconomic stability of a state and enhances proper exploitation/harnessing of both human and material resources. States with less or poor entrepreneurship drives and harnessing are likely to have poor economic performance and also encounter more socioeconomic , political turbulences. Nigeria, whose economy is developing, is in shackles of poor entrepreneurial drives, harnessing and performance due to several institutional and other factors; it is already hit by unemployment and poverty. This study explores these predicaments which have over the years negatively affected the performance of entrepreneurship in the Nigerian economy as well as impacting negatively on Nigeria's strive to curb unemployment and trigger socioeconomic development. The study used secondary sources to gather data. It is found that states and economies only succeeds in overcoming unemployment when entrepreneurship opportunities are optimally explored and harnessed, unsustainability of most entrepreneurial establishments and policies, poor government and private entrepreneurial policies and shortage of or poor funding are the banes of Nigeria's and Nigerians' entrepreneurial drives over the years. Entrepreneurship Education and Unemployment Reduction in Benue State, Nigeria

The study examined Entrepreneurship Education and Unemployment Reduction in Benue State, Nigeria. The population of the study comprises 270 beneficiaries of entrepreneurship training programmes in Central Bank of Nigeria Entrepreneurship Development Centre and Centre for Youths and Women Skills Acquisition training centers in Vandeikya Local Government Area while the sample size for the study is 125 respondents. The questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. Cronbach Alpha was used for reliability of instrument and factor analysis was employed to test the validity of the instrument. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical tools such as tables and simple percentages while multi regression was used for hypotheses testing with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 21). The findings of this study indicates that entrepreneurship education contribute significantly to unemployment reduction in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State through wealth creation (P-value 0.000< α 0.05). Findings of the study also revealed that entrepreneurship education has significant effect on unemployment reduction in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State through employment generation(P-value 0.000< α 0.05). Finally, the study revealed that entrepreneurship education has significant effect on skills acquisition in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State (P-value 0.000< α 0.05). It was concluded that the contribution of entrepreneurship training and education on unemployment reduction through youth empowerment and wealth creation will be much significant if entrepreneurship is encouraged at all level in the state especially at local and community level. It was recommended among others that Entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs should properly manage their business and create wealth for others through the revenue they generate by rendering financial assistance where necessary.

Entrepreneurial Practices as a Panacea for Unemployment in Nigeria

This study investigated whether entrepreneurial practices serve as a panacea for unemployment in Nigeria using the descriptive survey design. Primary data (questionnaire) was the major instrument of data collection, which was administered on 276 respondents out of which 263 questionnaire were fully retrieved. The respondents were made up of successful listed entrepreneurship ventures in Bayelsa and Delta States, Nigeria. The dependent variable is management of unemployment while the independent variables are entrepreneurial practices (such as time management, strategic thinking, resilience and trend adjustment). Cronbach alpha () reliability test was used in validating the research instrument of the study, yielding a Cronbach Alpha of 0.78. Data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics (simple percentages and mean responses). Given the analysis, it was found that entrepreneurial practices serve as a panacea for unemployment in Nigeria. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended among others that entrepreneurs should acquire time management skill because it is a core quality of all successful businesses and entrepreneurs should practice long-range planning and have good time attitudes in opening and closing time of their businesses. Also, entrepreneurs should not take decision quickly when confronted with unpleasant situation affecting their businesses; they should apply strategic thinking and foresights in order to make right decisions.

THE ROLE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF NIGERIAN

Entrepreneurial industries was selected one from each Geo political zone in Nigeria with population of 387 on the whole descriptive survey design was used and correlation coefficient was used in determining the relationship between these variable and economic development in Nigeria. Entrepreneurship, all over the world is acclaimed as a significant factor in economic development. Entrepreneurship does not only increase per capital income it also increases factor utilization. It is also a veritable change agent of the structure of business and society. As a change agent it acts as a catalyst for the generation of new ideas, products, methods of production and the distribution of the products so produced. The jobs created, the new technologies developed, the improved production method, the increase in output both in terms of quantity and quality are all the ingredients for economic growth and development. The paper has explored the roles of entrepreneurship at different sectors of the economy. In carrying out the research this paper is of the view that because of the capacity of entrepreneurship to generate increased output, its ability to create jobs through formation of new enterprises, to facilitate transfer of technology or adoption of technology, to invigorate large scale enterprises, to harness resources, that might otherwise be latent and to stimulate growth in those sectors which supply it with input; because it is able to encourage and sustain economic dynamism that enables a country to adjust successfully in a rapidly changing global economy, entrepreneurial development is a sine qua non in the development of any country especially, a developing country. Conclusion were made and the study recommended that more job opportunity will be created policies strengthened, environment should be improved for financing and investment welcomed.
