Negotiating Environmental Conflicts: Local communities, global policies (original) (raw)

This paper examines the complex dynamics of environmental conflict negotiation between local communities and global policies, particularly in the context of renewable energy initiatives in Portugal. It highlights the cultural narrative constructed around the transformation of landscapes due to wind and solar energy projects, exploring the gap between political rhetoric of modernization and the actual socio-environmental impacts faced by local populations. Despite the overarching support for green energy, the paper reveals underlying tensions and the voices of dissent that struggle to be heard in the dominant discourse on sustainable development.
