The growth of Internet of Things have given rise to new possibilities in terms of smart cities. Smart parking facilities and traffic management systems have always been at the core of constructing smart cities. In this paper the system involves using low-cost sensors, RFID tags, real-time data collection and mobile-phone-enabled automated payment systems that allow people to reserve parking very accurately and predict where they will likely find a spot, so this results in reduction in waiting time for parking, along with reduction in car emission and pollution, improved city visitor experience and need for manpower is reduced.

Design and Build a Modern Parking Application Based on Android

TEPIAN, 2021

Parking is a non-moving condition of a vehicle that is not temporary. Problem associated parking di Samarinda is disparity between revenue targets with the realization of revenue from parking fees. The performance of roadside parking management is not optimal yet, where there are still many illegal parking officers. While their official parking attendants tend to be dishonest and do not hand over parking fee tickets to motorists , this study offers a solution that might solve the above problems by creating an android-based parking application made for parking attendants , this application is used by parking attendants to recorded all parked vehicles and stored directly on the web service. The Apps is made using Android Studio and Postman to test the API provided. The results of this study are expected to reduce the impact of disparities between revenue targets and revenue realization from parking fees.

Design and Development of Mobile Application for Parking Reservation System

Journal of Computing Research and Innovation, 2019

Every emerging country face the issue of public parking congestion in the urban area. Ignoring the issue would breed a series of problems; from traffic disruption to violating the laws related to traffic. In Malaysia, the City Council has made an effort to mitigate the problem by using a coupon - which largely handled manually by the user by purchasing and paying the coupon through a machine. However, the procedure of using a coupon is considered inefficient due to challenges such as; extensive time, coupon exploitation and material waste. Therefore, to mitigate the problem surfaced in the current procedure, a mobile application is developed to handle the parking reservation process. The reservation process included the function to view the parking's availability thus presented the user the advantage of reserving parking earlier in the case of parking usage are at the peak. This paper highlighted the requirement identification and design and development phases.

DEVELOPMENT OF PARKING ACCOUNTING INFORMATION SYSTEMS BASED SMARTPHONE IN INDONESIA

The potential of regional income derived from parking fees is very high, therefore some major cities in Indonesia such as Surabaya, Bandung and Jakarta have implemented a parking management model from a secure manual. Currently the local revenue of cities and districts governments from parking fee was still low and declining. The objective is to mobilize regional income through the development of public information system based on smartphone. The specific target to be achieved is to build the network from the automatic teller machine to another system. This study aims to create smartphone-based parking applications with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method, from analysis, design, development to testing and simulation. The results of research for the local government strongly support the development of smartphone-based applications with the System Development Lifecycle method (SDLC). The proposed e-parking system can manage the management of parking charges. Through this system the local government can monitor all parking transactions easily and in real time. The e-parking system is easy to maintain and develop, in addition to the e-parking support tools are easily obtained with a relatively cheap price.

Collaborative Mobile Application and Advanced Services for Smart Parking

2013 IEEE 14th International Conference on Mobile Data Management, 2013

The main reason of wasting time in search of free parking spaces is the lack of information, in particular for open/roadside parking availability. Various ICT-based solutions have been proposed to solve this issue, but still suffering from limited integration among each other and with external online services, such as touristic information services. In this paper we illustrate a modular, service-oriented smart parking system, which includes web applications for parking operators and end users, as well as mobile applications for end users and parking controllers. The proposed system allows (1) operators to draw parking areas and define their details, (2) end users to be guided to the most suitable parking area, with also the indication of points of interest, and (3) controllers to monitor all vehicles that have been parked in their area. Another important feature is the possibility for end users to share their knowledge about parking occupancy, which is very useful when a parking area is not provided with precise availability counters. The smart parking system has been successfully evaluated in our Campus.

Integrated Secure Vehicle Reservation and Parking Management System using GSM and Short Messaging Service (SMS)

The wireless communication technology has seen tremendous growth in the last two decades. Various applications have been advantaged by this technology. In cosmopolitan cities, people may happily pay the price for time. It is a difficult and time consuming task to find a vacant parking bay in heavily populated places like shopping malls, theatres and public places. In this paper, a smart vehicle parking reservation system is proposed. In the system, people can reserve a parking bay by using the short message service (SMS). A notification with reserved parking bay information is sent back. The system comprises of hardware and software. The proposed system is tested and the results have proven that on average in 1.8 seconds a confirmed notification is received. The system has an optimum beam angle of 105 for the IR sensors Thus, the proposed system is not only rapid but also provides reserved parking bay location.

Design and Implementation of an Android Smart Parking Mobile Application

TEM Journal

Smart parking is an important sector of smart city technologies. This paper presents the design and implementation of a smart parking application in a university campus to help university personnel prebook a parking space swiftly and easily. Each parking slot is numbered with a distinctive number and has an infrared sensor. The sensors are connected to an Arduino device to indicate whether the position is vacant or busy. The application uses several programming techniques in Android Studio and SQL Database. The efficient management of the available parking spaces is demonstrated and can be extended to cover other areas and venues.

Smart Parking Application

International Journal for Research in Applied Science & Engineering Technology (IJRASET), 2023

Today, most parking lots operate on a manual parking system, where vehicles enter, find an available space, pay for parking at the counter, etc. In contrast, parking booking apps allow users to save time and money. People use these sites to provide parking for Light Motor Vehicles (LMV). Users and owners of parking spaces will be located directly using the Global Positioning System (GPS) API. In addition, the software will assign a unique identification number (UID) to the parking space and display a live list of available parking spaces. This paper will discuss building an application that covers all the features and aspects of vehicle parking and the basics used to build it.

Humans in their activities need comfort. The comfort that is owned will allow humans to reduce anxiety in unexpected situations. This also applies to the need for parking facilities that are easily accessible from any place and time. Limited access will slow down our planned activities. This problem needs to be solved. This solution can be solved with the use of Web-based IT. The methodology used is to create an application that is easy and convenient for transportation users to find a parking space. The use of the Digital Parking Web is expected to be able to answer the convenience needs of vehicle users while influencing the needs of modern society for transportation. This research is expected to produce an effective parking management web application to support smart cities and their users.
