A total of 36 lichen specimens from 13 genera was collected from the heath forest of Barb Highlands. Thirty-five specimens were identified to species level and one to generic level. Of the species identified, seven represented new records for the island of Borneo. One species, Parmotrema acrotrychum was previously known only from Papua New Guinea and Queensland, Australia and this study had significantly extended its distribution range to the western region. Three Asia-Australia species Parmotrema subcoral linum, Physcidia cylindrophora and Relicina sublanea were also discovered in this study

Thirteen lichen species from 7 genera have been identified from Bario. The major metabolites present in these species were determined by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Introduction Bario lies 1200 metres above sea level, on a plateau in the Kelabit Highlands, southeast of Miri in the Fourth Division of Sarawak. It is bordered by the Tamabu Range in the west and the Apo Duet Mountains to the east. It has a mild and cool climate, with temperatures of 18-22°C and an annual rainfall of about 2213 mm. Knowledge of the lichen flora of Malaysia, especially of Sabah and Sarawak, has made great progress during recent years. Din et at. Lichen is a form of mutualistic symbiosis between phycobiont and mycobiont. Lichens play an important role in environment, either to maintain the biological diversity and the function of ecosystems. This study is aimed to determine the diversity of species of lichens in the Baliem Valley region, Jayawijaya, Papua. The method used was explorative surveys in several villages in Jayawijaya District. Species identification was based on morphological characteristics. The results showed that there were 37 species of lichen belong to 24 genera and 11 families on several habitats on altitude ranging from 1655 to 2179 m asl with temperatures between 18-26°C. Distribution of Lichen Flora at Different Altitudes of Gunung Machincang, Langkawi Islands, Malaysia

Lichen samples were collected from Gunung Machincang, Langkawi Islands based on an alternation of altitudes, which are 0, 300 and above 600 m. Morphological identification resulted in 15 genera of microlichens (crustose) and five genera of macrolichens (foliose) and they fall under 14 families. As the altitude increases, the number of foliose type of lichen also increased. The common microlichens obtained were from the Family of Graphidaceae and can be found from the sea level right up to the peak of Gunung Machincang. The most common crustose lichens found were Heterodermia sp., while Eugenia sp. is the most common tree habitat for lichens in Gunung Machincang, Langkawi Islands. This study represents the first record of lichens in Gunung Machincang, Langkawi Islands, Malaysia.

Tasmanian lichen flora. Muelleria 7(4): 507-517 (1992).-A new lichen from Tasmania and South Australia, Neofuscelia subloxodeUa Elix & Kantvilas, is described. Twenty-three additional lichen taxa are reported from Tasmania for the first time, and notes on their distinguishing features, distribution and ecology are provided. The new combination, Parmelina pseudorelicina (Jatta) Kantvilas & Elix, is proposed.
