Framework: Design of Automatic Attendances System Using RFID Technology

On some campuses in Indonesia, student attendance at lectures is very important session to be recorded. Lecturer requires the presence of at least some (e.g. 80%) to be able to follow the final exams. Several other professors, often also found the presence weighs on the final assessment of students (e.g. 5%). Currently, student attendance recapitulation done manually through the sheets of paper signed the attendance list manually. Student attendance recapitulation process takes longer. These studies develop an automated detection system student attendance by applying RFID technology. Business processes a campus attendance system manual will serve as a model for the development of applications that will be able to summarize the presence of a total attendance of students for a course, the number of lectures given by professors and students overall attendance statistics.

Attendance and Information System using RFID and Web-Based Application for Academic Sector

—Recently, students attendance have been considered as one of the crucial elements or issues that reflects the academic achievements and the performance contributed to any university compared to the traditional methods that impose time-consuming and inefficiency. Diverse automatic identification technologies have been more in vogue such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). An extensive research and several applications are produced to take maximum advantage of this technology and bring about some concerns. RFID is a wireless technology which uses to a purpose of identifying and tracking an object via radio waves to transfer data from an electronic tag, called RFID tag or label to send data to RFID reader. The current study focuses on proposing an RFID based Attendance Management System (AMS) and also information service system for an academic domain by using RFID technology in addition to the programmable Logic Circuit (such as Arduino), and web-based application. The proposed system aims to manage student's attendance recording and provides the capabilities of tracking student absentee as well, supporting information services include students grading marks, daily timetable, lectures time and classroom numbers, and other student-related instructions provided by faculty department staff. Based on the results, the proposed attendance and information system is time-effective and it reduces the documentation efforts as well as, it does not have any power consumption. Besides, students attendance RFID based systems that have been proposed are also analyzed and criticized respect to systems functionalities and main findings. Future directions for further researchers are focused and identified.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) and database- based attendance management system

Bayero Journal of Pure and Applied Sciences, 2021

Effective record and management of students and staff attendance of academic and non academic activities/events are vital for the smooth functioning of the educational system. This is still a difficult task in most institutions, particularly in Nigeria with a large number of staff and students attending different academic and non-academic functions. This is even more difficult to manage when the traditional method of paper and pen is used to record attendance, prone to errors, and in most cases lack integrity due to manual handling of the record. Electronics and Information Communications Technologies (ICT) can be deployed to help mitigate these problems and improve reliability, ease, speed, efficiency, effectiveness, and integrity of recording and managing attendance. In this work, we used Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and database management to provide an alternative solution that addresses issues of objects (humans and non-humans) authentication, authorization, and record...

Attendance System using RFID with “Drive Thru” Techniques

International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences, 2018

The Current state of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has been expending in the terms of information handling and material flow. It is one of many technologies grouped under Automatic Identification such as barcodes, magnetic inks, optical character recognition, voice recognition, touch memory, smart cards, and biometrics. RFID is an important feature because of the ability to detect objects under unique identification. Therefore, a possible approach with the "Drive-Thru" Attendance System project for University Education Sultan Idris (UPSI) staff by using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) outlines the likelihood that can be used to improve staff attendance efficiency. The purpose of this project is to improve the system of old attendance and to eliminate the remaining time during the attendance collection. The RFID reader is located at an angle called "Drive Thru Zone" on both Campuses where staff will pass the route for the purpose of scanning the identity card tag (ID) for attendance. Then, the information is processed by MTLAB and PICKIT2 before displaying the data received on the LCD and the output shown on the PC / Laptop. The result shows that if the identity card is not registered, it can not access the staff attendance. About 70% of respondents agreed with the project based on the questionnaire distribution. In conclusion, "Drive Thru" shows staff arriving on time and able to eliminate the rest of the time.

RFID Based Attendance Management System

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is a technology that uses radio waves to transfer data from an electronic tag, called RFID tag or label, attached to an object, through a reader for the purpose of identifying and tracking the object. RFID technology is a matured technology that has been widely deployed by various organizations as a part of their automation systems. In this project, an RFID based system has been built in order to produce an attendance management system. An automated attendance management software will not only make the entire process simple, but will also provide a well-structured and analyzed report of the pattern of student attendance and time management, which can further help in allocating and using the human resources in an organization to the maximum possible benefit. This system consists of two main parts which include: the hardware and the software. The hardware consists of a motor unit and RFID reader. The RFID reader, which is a low-frequency reader (125 kHz), is connected to the host computer via a serial to USB converter cable. The Time-Attendance System GUI is developed using Visual Basic.Net. The Attendance Management System provides the functionalities of the overall system such as displaying live ID tags transactions, registering ID, deleting ID, recording attendance and other minor functions. This interface was installed in the host computer.

Automation of Attendances in Classrooms using RFID

This paper automates the design and implementation of students' attendance management system, taken into consideration easy access and time saving. The system will be used in faculty of computing and information system (FCIT) at King Abdulaziz University (KAU). Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and wireless technology are two technologies which will be applied as infrastructure in the indoor environment. Design and Development Of Lecturer Attendance System Using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)

International Journal of Computer Science Engineering

Lecturer attendance record is required by the university to know the presence of lecturers in teaching in class. In general condition, lecturer attendance is recorded on the attendance sheet, or input to web application accessed on a class computer. However, there are some problems in its implementation so that at the end, lecturer presence is carried out using a manual form where the academic staff needs to re-enter the lecturer attendance data into the applications. Based on the above, the authors designed and developed a lecturer attendance information system to record lecturers' attendance using radio frequency identification technology by implementing a near field communication card (NFC Card). The device used to record and read presence data during lectures, by tapping an Mi-fare NFC card to an NFC reader / writer device. The flow of this research method begins with a literature study of NFC card, observe the flow of lecture attendance process and data recorded into lectur...
