Economic Analysis of Pipe Types Used in Drinking Water Transmission Lines (original) (raw)
The use of pressurized pipes in drinking water transmission lines is utilized to save water while the transmission lines are shortened in size so water losses are reduced. Because of the transmission lines are high cost investments, care should be taken while these facilities are being projected. That the materials to be used are economic, low in operating costs, easy to maintenance and repair and install. In the case of pressure transmission lines, costs consist of construction and operating (energy, operaton-maintenance etc.) costs. The financial impact of the pipes used in drinking water transmission lines was analyzed in this study. Steel, high density polyethylene (HDPE) and glass fiber reinforced polyester (GRP) pipes are mostly used in transmission lines. Cost calculations were made for different diameters of these pipes.
