The result of each measurement consists big or small measurement uncertainty. Many sources of uncertainty, especially in industry measurements, are not well studied and require further researchment. Therefore, it is important to have good knowledge about measurement uncertainty in order to minimize as much as possible. The results of performed analyse and the study of the opportunities for application of the method of linear regression for determination the calibration curve of the measurement device are presented in this paper. The researchment refers to the assessment of the measurement uncertainty type A and B, as well as the combined and extended uncertainty of the measurement result. By the fulfillment of the assumption for realization of an engineering experiment, with possession of mathematical, technical and practical experience of the operator and the computer supported analytical process, the calibration curve of the measurement device is determined, as well as the extende...
Method of Analysis and correction of the Error from Nonlinearity of the Measurement Instruments
Journal of Engineering Science and Technology Review, 2016
In this work are examined the characteristics of the error from nonlinearity of the static characteristic of the measuring instruments. The possibilities to correct this error are analyzed. Mathematical models are presented, in order to allow evaluation of the error from nonlinearity regarding the permissible error of the measurement result, as well as to draw the necessary algorithms for correction of this error. The models are developed, based on the method of the smallest modules.

In this paper, we used second order interpolation method via three successding data points in narrow area, combined with loop transformation method and used samples to build an algorithm for processing of measurement data to reduce non-linear errors and transformation errors of non-electric measuring devices. Simulation and experimental results shown the ability to reduce errors of measurement devices.
New simulation of interpolation points using polynomials system to apply numerical approximation
In this paper, we took some interpolation points and found a polynomial passing through it by simple way. Using a slave of a system of equations composed of interpolation points, such that the y-axis of this point will be as solution of equations, and x-axis will be equations that find it by composition interpolation points with constant points to make a system of polynomials, by solving this system we get a result of the constant points that will be shaping interpolation polynomial.
The measurements results adjustment by the Least Square Method
Measurements infrastructure
The method for processing of the measurement results obtained from Comite International des Poids et Measures (CIPM) Key, Regional Metrology Organizations (RMO) or supplementary comparisons, from the proficiency testing by interlaboratory comparisons and the calibrations is proposed. It is named by authors as adjustment by least square method (LSM). Additive and multiplicative parameters for each measuring standard of every particular laboratory will be the results of this adjustment. As well as the parameters for each artifact. The parameters of the measurements standards are their additive and multiplicative degrees of equivalence from the comparison and the estimations of the systematic errors (biases) from calibrations. The parameters of the artifacts are the key comparisons reference value from the comparison and the assigned quantity values from the calibrations. The adjustment is considered as a way to solving a problem of processing the great amount of homogeneous measuremen...

The ultrasonic range finder sensors are widely used sensor in many applications such as computer applications, general purpose applications, medical applications, automotive applications and industrial grade applications. The ultrasonic range finder sensor has many advantages. The advantages are easy to use, fast in measuring process, non-contact measurement and suitable for air and underwater environment. However, the ultrasonic range finder has deviation especially for low-cost sensor. It affects the accuracy level of the measurement result that performed by its sensor directly. The HC-SR04 categorized as a low-cost ultrasonic range finder sensor. This sensor has significant error level. The improvement of the accuracy level of this low-cost ultrasonic sensor is expected to this research. The Newton’s polynomial interpolation algorithm has been used in this research to reduce the error during the measurement process. The implementation of Newton’s polynomial interpolation has succ...

The goal of this paper is applied the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method as a strategy in order to reduce the uncertainty measurement associated to the relevant physical quantities. Methodology or method: This work was motivated due to the efforts made in the measurement sciences to investigate alternative methods that allow obtaining greater metrological reliability of the results, that is, reducing the uncertainty associated with the measurement. Thus, the applied methodology consisted of the development of a computational code using the MatLab tool, in which an algorithm was programmed that supports the application of the OLS method. Three of the most used physical magnitudes at an industrial level were evaluated: temperature, pressure and mass. These magnitudes were evaluated from the calibration of three measuring instruments: thermistor, manometer and digital scale. Results: The applied methodology allowed to: (i) obtain the matrix of the coefficients for polynomials of degre...

Model of polynomial calibration
Journal of Physics: Conference Series
The paper builds the comparative calibration model with a polynomial calibration function. The model allows to consider possibly correlated data and combines the type A as well as type B unceranities of measurements. From statistical point of view the model after linearization could be represented by the linear errors-in-variables model (EIV).
PDF-Based Progressive Polynomial Calibration Method for Smart Sensors Linearization
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2009
Calibration and linearization are two important topics that must always be considered to assure the accuracy of measuring systems. Measurement errors, i.e., offset, gain, and linearization errors, can be compensated as long as timely calibration routines are performed in the measurement system. Nowadays, with the advent of smart sensors, the new capabilities associated with microprocessor or microcontroller devices can support new and advanced calibration and self-calibration algorithms that contribute to increase measurement accuracy. In this paper, an adaptive self-calibration algorithm for smart sensors linearization is proposed. The algorithm takes into consideration the probability density function of the measured data to reduce the number of calibration points, as well as the associated calibration time, for a required level of accuracy. The progressive polynomial interpolation method preserves the values of the calibration coefficients, which are already evaluated in previous calibration iterations, without starting the algorithmic calculation of a new set of the calibration coefficients for each new additional calibration point. Some simulation and experimental results for a square-root characteristic of a venturi-type airflow transducer will be presented to validate the theoretical expectations.
