Design and Implementation of a User Friendly Text Based Captcha
CAPTCHA is a Human Interactive Proof (HIP) system which is used to distinguish between human users and computer programs automatically. CAPTCHA has been widely used for preventing malicious programs to access web resources automatically. Web accessibility is increasing day by day with the advent of public services being online making space for payment gateways that further make space for data theft, information theft which is very curious. So, In this paper, a user friendly text based CAPTCHA is proposed for secure authentication. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed CAPTCHA, an attack to decode the CAPTCHA was made and compared with other existing real time CAPTCHAs being used at various websites.
Designing a Secure Text-based CAPTCHA
Procedia Computer Science, 2015
Captcha is stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computer and Human Apart. As the increase of automated bots systems or software that misuse and corrupt the public web services, the user must required going through and solving a Turing test problem, before they are use web services. This Turing test is called Captcha. In this paper we have discuss an improved text-based captcha which is more secure, and more robust as compared to another Captchas.
Algorithm for Secured Online Authentication Using CAPTCHA
2010 3rd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology, 2010
CAPTCHA stands for Completely Automated Public Turing Tests to Tell Computers and Humans Apart .A CAPTCHA is a program that protects websites against bots-automated scripts by generating and grading tests that humans can pass but current computer programs cannot. For example, humans can read distorted text but current computer programs can't. The threats from bots is growing rapidly and also increasing in technical sophistication causing various types of attacks. These attacks are affecting social aspects of human beings. Human being or legitimate users are cheated by false requests disturbing their social life. This paper aims to provide secured authentification by verifying strength of CAPTCHA. The strength of CAPTCHA can be verified by solving it. The CAPTCHA solving has mainly three steps such as preprocessing, segmentation and character recognition. The input distorted image of CAPTCHA is passed through preprocessing module which removes noise and gives raw image which is then segmented. These segmented characters are recognized using pattern-matching technique achieving 88% accuracy. The result shows that this algorithm provides secured social relevance to avail free Internet services and in turn improve usability of well-claimed CAPTCHA.
Captcha: A Tool for Web Security
2021
Malicious computer programs today have tried to target websites, which have a significant effect on their availability and security. The CAPTCHA is a tool that is an efficient way of solving this problem. CAPTCHA is a full automated public turing test. Many human activities are performed on the Internet every day, such as schooling, commerce, conversations etc. Some hackers write programs to automatically make false registrations, for example when registering in websites, that waste web resources while this may even stop the whole website. Thus, human users should be differentiated from CAPTCHA software systems. CAPTCHA handwritten picture may be a work around. In this paper literature review of CAPTCHA has been done in order to enhance our knowledge about how CAPTCHA can provide web security focusing in particular on handwritten CAPTCHA and audio, video CAPTCHA in general.
A DETAILED EXPLANATION OF THE CAPTCHA TO IMPROVE SECURITY
This paper proposes the latest attacks which are been done in the internet. It explains how these various attacks can be stopped by using various techniques of captcha. There are various types of captcha available nowadays. This paper explains how we can improve the internet security by using the advance captcha. There are two types of captcha which we have seen they are: Numerical captcha and image captcha. In this paper we explain about the advance version of captcha like the motion graphical captcha, pictorial captcha. These captcha can be used for various purposes. It can be used for email verification, bank details verification and even for other payment options. These captcha increases the security from getting the websites hacked.
Enhancing the Security of CAPTCHA based on the New Character Locations
— Since that time i.e. 1864 till today, research on CAPTCHA is implementing day by day in different designs different technique over a security level. Generally as we know that CAPTCHA is mainly used in website to block the bots, which means a program or a code which is generate by a spammer to search the valid email address to be used as a target for spam and also want to know the weakness of system by which the spammers may attack. CAPTCHA is implemented as a Turing test with respect to Artificial Intelligence. So, to differentiate whether the user who are operating the website are human or a computer program. And the test which is consider to be solve in the form of CAPTCHA is solved and success rate more than 80% by the human and less than 0.01% by the computer system. In this paper we will come to know usability, new techniques that have been used to change different CAPTCHA schemes, types of CAPTCHA. We than introduce the new level to solve CAPTCHA whether it would be in form of text, audio, image, video. Main goal is to reduce the time for user surfing internet by spending time to solve the CAPTCHA. The idea shows that the proposal is indeed feasible and if implemented it will be another technique to reduce the time limit because many technique were implemented present few days before CAPTCHA is introduced.
A Review on Various Implemented CAPTCHA in the Field of Web Security
International Journal for Research in Applied Science & Engineering Technology (IJRASET), 2022
CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) is a process of identifying whether user is human or robot. It is very important to know the user end because security can be breach. There are different CAPTCHA problems accessible like twisted string, image recognition, math and gaming CAPTCHA. Game based problem is intuitive and profoundly got as contrast with the other CAPTCHA. In this sort of CAPTCHA client needs to tackle an AI problem either by drag and drop technique or click based, contingent upon the game. The paper is expected to audit different carried out CAPTCHA and analyze their shortcoming and security boundaries. A large number of the CAPTCHAs are based on click based strategies where client needs to recognize the photos according to its appearance and snap in like manner. However, this sort of CAPTCHA can be mediated by image processing like object classifier. Dragging an item to the objective region is a successful way however it must be performed or tackled by a scholarly problem. On the off chance that dragging an item to the objective region by object acknowledgment, framework might get broken by relay attacks.
A Survey on Enhancement of Captcha to Prevent Non Interactive Access
International Journal of Engineering Applied Sciences and Technology
CAPTCHA is a Completely Automated Public Turing Test to tell Computers and Humans Apart, to ensure that the response is only generated by humans and not by computerized robots. Simpler CAPTCHAs are easily breakable due to advancement in pattern recognition and machine learning algorithms. There are enhancement procedures making few CAPTCHAs harder to decode. This paper brings the concept of humanfriendly mini-game CAPTCHAs which is easier for the humans and difficult for the bots to break.
CAPTCHA Based on Human Cognitive Factor
A CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) is an automatic security mechanism used to determine whether the user is a human or a malicious computer program. It is a program that generates and grades tests that are human solvable, but intends to be beyond the capabilities of current computer programs. CAPTCHA should be designed to be very easy for humans but very hard for machines. Unfortunately, the existing CAPTCHA systems while trying to maximize the difficulty for automated programs to pass tests by increasing distortion or noise have consequently, made it also very difficult for potential users. To address the issue, this paper addresses an alternative form of CAPTCHA that provides a variety of questions from mathematical, logical and general problems which only human can understand and answer correctly in a given time. The proposed framework supports diversity in choosing the questions to be answered and a user-friendly framework to the users. A user-study is also conducted to judge the performance of the developed system with different background. The study shows the efficacy of the implemented system with a good level of user satisfaction over traditional CAPTCHA available today.
