Energy Efficiency of a Variable Speed of the Centralized Air Conditioning System Using Pid Controller

PID control system for air-conditioning system in residence is presented in this manuscript. The control strategy is focused on low energy consumption and thermal comfort for indoor user. The algorithm is developed to control the compressor speed at an appropriate speed according to the temperature inside the controlled area using PID controller. Software is developed to measure and interface the system with controlling the system according to the algorithm. The temperature settings are 20, 22 and 24oC with internal heat load of 0 and 1000 Watt. The results obtained proved that the technique can lower the energy consumption and increased temperature control for better thermal comfort compared to on/off controller

Arduino-based PID Control of Humidity in Closed Space by Pulse Width Modulation of AC Voltage

My previous work explored a method for constant temperature proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control in a closed space using an Arduino. Similarly, this paper proposes a method of PID control to keep the humidity constant in a closed space using Arduino. PID control by a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal with Arduino is used to keep the humidity constant due to the heat generated by an incandescent light bulb to which an AC voltage of 100 (V) is applied. Here, the humidity is measured using the temperature/humidity sensor DHT11. Specifically, the target value of humidity is set to 30 (%), and the experimental results of P, PD, PI, and PID controls are compared from the points of quick response and stationary performance. As an evaluation of stationary performance, the mean-square value of 1,000 data of the deviation (target value – measured humidity) is calculated, and the PID control is found to be the preferred control.

This research paper describes the design and development of air conditioner control card based PIC16F877A microcontroller to get a comfortable thermal feeling for air conditioning system. Various types of air conditioner control cards are available in the markets nowadays but this control card in this system is different depending on microcontroller technology by changing control design and parameters. It is more reliable to use for the consumer. To be controlled based PIC16F877A for air conditioning system is only the temperature to provide more comfortable and conductive environment. The outputs of microcontroller are given commands to drive inputs of ULN 2003A which drives relays for output loads. The control card based on PIC16F877A will be constructed on air conditioning system to control temperature values for heating and cooling process, and speeds for compressor motor and fan. LCD display has been constructed for showing operations of air conditioning system. IC LM35 temperature sensor is used to detect the environment temperature change. In this paper, control card for air conditioner is implemented by Micro C programming language embedded in microcontroller.

The air conditioner system plays a very essential role in our everyday lives. But air condition systems consume a lot of power. In this project, fan and AC are clubbed together and will work at different interval of time. This project is based on time variant i.e. if we set the delay time of say(1 hour) the AC will operate for 1 hour while the Fan is OFF and after 1 hour the AC will turn OFF and the Fan will operate and this operation will keep on repeating till the supply is turn OFF. The delay time for the operation of AC and Fan can be set according to our requirement through the program given to the arduino Different case studies was discussed for different Air conditioner companies for different capacities and their energy saving was analyzed for different cases.

Due to global warming and various other reasons, temperature of earth is increasing day by day. Because of this it is too hot during summer season and too cold during winter season. Compared to past days, it is even difficult to walk in day time and to sleep in night time during summers. Likewise during winter season we need to get wrapped up with thick clothes to protect ourselves from cold. Though people can never overcome or win over nature, they have at least discovered cooling and heating devices to protect themselves from weather extremities. Since we need cooling device during summers and heating device during winters, instead of having separate units, we can have a single unit which can perform both the functions of heating and cooling. The single system which can perform both the functions of cooling and heating is called air conditioning system. It is called so because air has to be heated or cooled (conditioned) to give us comfort. In this context, we have conducted a minor project entitled “TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED AUTOMATIC AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM” under the subject MINOR PROJECT(EX654) specified by Institute of Engineering,Tribhuvan University.The main theme of this project is to furnish a system which automatically monitor the room temperature and circulate fresh air inside the room.Essentially,this project have been designed using embedded system components like microcontrollers(ATMEL AT89S52) and various other components like ADC,optocoupler,darlington transistor etc.

Automatic control of temperature and moisture of room cooler using Arduino

The paper is based on temperature based automatic control of the cooling fan. LM-35 is used for sensing the room temperature. The circuit automatically senses the temperature and sends the signal to the Arduino. The range of LM-35 is 0-100 • C. Electronic temperature controlled relays are used for an operation of the submersible pump. For the controlling purpose, Arduino microcontroller is used. The temperature that is sensed is compared with the program which decides the gate pulse for triac. Fan speed is changed according to the duty cycle of triac. Temperature values are visible on display. This project also involves the automation of submersible pump by using moisture sensor. It throws light on how water can be saved using this method.

Design and Development of Low Cost and Portable Microcontroller Based Hygrometer

The hygrometer is widely used in air conditioner, humidity data logger, humidifier & dehumidifier etc. The aim of this research work is to design and development of a low cost, portable microcontroller based hygrometer. The hygrometer has been designed using the sensor module HSM-20G. The sensor operates in capacitive principle, i.e. changes in relative humidity (RH) of the surrounding air cause a change in dielectric constant of the polymer film leading to a change of sensor capacitance. The module converts this capacitance change into analog voltage. The HSM-20G sensor provides analog voltage for both temperature and humidity. The sensor is connected with PIC16F876A microcontroller, which converts the analog voltage into digital and display the result into 16 X 2 alphanumeric LCD display. The program is written in C language using mikro C PRO. The measuring accuracy of the humidity reading of our designed meter is negligible.
