Review of CMOS Currente References

Journal of Integrated Circuits and Systems

A current reference is able to provide a precise and accurate current for other circuits inside a chip. This type of electronic circuit is employed as a building block in numerous analog and mixed-signal circuits. Moreover, it is a fundamental component of current-mode circuits. This work discusses the basic and essential concepts of designing CMOS integrated current references. A review of conventional topologies is presented, including current mirrors and current references. Temperature dependence is discussed, along with PTAT and CTAT topologies, and some low-power/low-voltage implementations are also presented.

Single Electron Transistor Based Current Mirror: Modelling and Performance Characterization

Journal of Nano- and Electronic Physics, 2021

Current mirror is basic building block of amplifier, oscillator and comparator circuit. An ideal current mirror is independent of input power and temperature. The output current is constant mirrored image of input current. In order to avoid wrong equilibrium it must have high output impedance. This can be achieved by using super cascode formation. The single electron coulomb blockade structure provides low voltage operation and scaling of transistor to 10 nm. The Single Electron Transistor (SET) based CM is modeled and analyzed by simulation and the results shows improved performance of CM.

IJERT-Practical Biasing Design for Analog Circuits

International Journal of Engineering Research and Technology (IJERT), 2014

In this method, the properties of operational amplifiers are well exploited, and it is useful for the biasing design of circuits containing non-linear components like diodes, BJTs, FETs etc. The method uses a combination of fixators, norators and nullators, where operational amplifiers are used as nullator plus norator (or simply nullor). As examples, a diode circuit, a BJT circuit and a JFET circuit are shown which are designed using the proposed method for some given critical specs. Application of current mirror as a current source, and its design using the proposed method are also discussed in this paper.
