Adoption of a sedation scoring system and sedation guideline in an intensive care unit (original) (raw)

This paper examines the implementation of a sedation scoring system and sedation guideline in an intensive care unit (ICU), focusing on the adoption rates and the effectiveness of Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs). The study highlights the challenges associated with measuring the actual adoption of CPGs and suggests methods for accurate assessment, such as chart audits. Results indicate that intensive one-on-one information sessions can significantly enhance the implementation of guidelines, and emphasizes the need for continued research on sustainable strategies to ensure evidence-based practices are effectively adopted in clinical settings.
