Background Moderate and vigorous physical activity is essential to maintain proper body composition and reduce the risk of ischemic heart disease, diabetes and cancer. In addition, it reduces the risk of stroke, hypertension and depression. Even so, it is an essential determinant of energy expenditure and, therefore, fundamental for energy balance and weight control. Physical Activity among Spanish Undergraduate Students: A Descriptive Correlational Study

Achieving the recommended levels of physical activity (PA) is associated with better health. Despite this, most undergraduate students report low levels of PA. This study aimed to assess the achievement of recommended PA levels in a wide sample of undergraduate students from Madrid (N = 2960). Overall PA and leisure-time PA (LTPA) were measured with the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ). Descriptive analyses and logistic regression were performed. It was revealed that 22.4% and 55.6% of overall PA and LTPA, respectively, did not achieve World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations. When PA was measured as overall PA, the achievement of the recommended level was positively predicted by male sex; a Body Mass Index (BMI) indicative of normal weight or being overweight; spending less time sitting or reclining; work; and studying health science, social sciences, engineering, or architecture (all p < 0.001; r2 = 0.075). The Level of Physical Activity of University Students
Many studies paid attention to the worldwide decline in physical activity (PA) and increase the sedentary and obesity. The inactivity at different ages it is a major problem for most countries. The aim of the study is to investigate the level of physical activity of university students. In according with the results will see how active they are and what kind of measure may propose to increase the data obtained. Self administrated International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) were used to investigate how active are the university students. Questionnaires were interpreted as: 1) vigorous activity; 2) moderate activity; 3) walking, and 4) sitting in last seven days. A total of 334 students were participated at this study. Anthropometrics measurements were report as height, weight and body mass index (BMI). Most of students have a normal body weight. Physical activity was reported for all group and by genders. Male students are most active comparative with female students.The findings show reasonable basis for health and active life style among students.

Departmental sources Background: Upon graduation, students studying in departments related to health will work in the health sector and will guide and enlighten people with their knowledge and behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors affecting the physical activity (PA) conditions of university students on a health sciences campus. Material/Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out on 706 students in a Turkish university. The data was obtained from a survey prepared by the researchers. The 26-question survey aimed to discover the students' socio-demographic characteristics and their awareness and practices concerning PA. Results: We found that 30% of the students engage in some type of PA during their university education. A relationship was observed concerning their current PA and their family inactivity levels, as well as between inactivity before entering the university and inactivity during their education. The presence of a chronic disease in family members does not affect student PA. A majority of the students believe PA is beneficial (98.7%), 93.9% believe it relieves stress, and 94.5% believe it helps control body weight. Conclusions: Although students of medicine and related disciplines are aware of the importance of proper diet and adequate levels of PA in health, they did not implement theory into practice. Thus, it is questionable how young health professionals will promote the positive effects and necessity of regular physical activity if they do not apply these activities to their own lifestyle.

Physical Activity Patterns in University Students: Do They Follow the Public Health Guidelines?

Physical activity is associated with health. The aim of this study was (a) to access if Portuguese university students meet the public health recommendations for physical activity and (b) the effect of gender and day of the week on daily PA levels of university students. This observational cross-sectional study involved 126 (73 women) healthy Portuguese university students aged 18-23 years old. Participants wore the ActiGraph wGT3X-BT accelerometer for seven consecutive days. Number of steps, time spent sedentary and in light, moderate and vigorous physical activity were recorded. The two-way MANOVA revealed that gender (p-value = 0.001; η2 = 0.038; minimum effect) and day of the week (p-value = 0.001; η2 = 0.174; minimum effect) had significant main effects on the physical activity variables. Background: Physical inactivity is a major global public health problem, with a large impact on morbidity and mortality. For this reason, knowledge and advice on physical activity (PA) should be common to all health professionals. In this context, the role of physicians stands out, because they act in the first contact and have a high potential in addressing this issue and its impact on health promotion, prevention, and treatment in chronic diseases. This study aims to observe the level of physical activity knowledge of medical students in a university in the south of Brazil. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out by applying the short and validated version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) to collect data on sociodemographic factors, physical activity, knowledge of physical activity, and level of physical activity. Results: A total of 294 students were assessed. The average (± SD) age was 22.0 (± 3.3) years. Most were women, and 72.8% presented body mass index within the range 18.5-25 kg/m 2. Results showed that 65.6% of the students practice physical activity. There was statistical difference regarding the level of physical activity (p < 0.001) and sitting time on weekdays (p = 0.031) between the groups of physically active and physically inactive individuals. Conclusion: It was concluded that the practice of physical activity has no association with the level of knowledge about it. However, by practicing physical activities doctors are better able to motivate and encourage their patients.
Physical Activity Patterns of College Students of the University of Santo Tomas

Objectives: This study examined the physical activity patterns of the University of Santo Tomas college students in Manila, Philippines in terms of participation in moderate to vigorous physical activity, frequency and duration of participation, METS-min/week, sitting habits and walking activities. Methods: A total of 551 males and 850 female college students (N=1401) from the University of Santo Tomas were randomly selected for the study. After anthropometric measurements (height, weight, BMI and Waist circumference) were taken, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (short form) was answered by the students. Results: A greater percentage of male college students engage in vigorous physical activity (66.97%) in terms of frequency per week (2.42 + 1.56 days), duration (119.52 + 70.70 minutes) and MET-min/week (2252.77 + 2789.81 METS). On the other hand, more female college students engage in moderate physical activity in terms of frequency per week (4.69 + 2.04 days). However, male college students who engage in moderate physical activity spend a longer duration (106.02 + 108.55 minutes) and higher METmin/week (1945.59 + 2721.02 METS) than their female counterpart. Conclusion: It is important to engage in physical activity on a daily basis, with recommendations given by the American Heart Association and the World Health Organization. Appropriate physical activity assists young people to develop healthy musculoskeletal tissues, cardiovascular system, neuromuscular awareness and maintain a healthy body weight and composition. It has also been associated with psychological benefits in young people by improving control over anxiety and depression, good selfperception and expression, as well as avoidance of tobacco, alcohol and drug use.

The purpose of this study is to examine the difference of students' physical activities in Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) in urban city with the students of the Universitas Galuh Ciamis (Unigal) in the rural area. In addition, it is also seen in the extracurricular involvement in each university. The method used is causal comparative. The samples are 283 people (148 UPI students and 135 UGM students). The instrument used is the IPAQ-SF that has been translated into Indonesian. The results of the study show that there is no difference between the physical activities of UPI and Unigal students (p .065), but there is interaction between the college (campus) with the involvement of extracurricular (p .034).
