ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND SCHEDULING TECHNIQUES USING CLOUD COMPUTING METHODS WITHIN DATA CENTERS
Journal of Theoretical and Applied Information Technology , 2019
As knowledge increases and technology advances, a large pool of data has become available to man. With data growing endlessly every day, data centers have become important in ICT, emphasizing the need to ensure efficient use of energy. Due to the high quantity of electricity consumed by these data centers, Data centers in the U. S. alone has been estimated to consume about 92-billion-kilowatt-hours of voltage during the year 2013. By 2020, the power consumed is predicted to reach 140-billion kilowatt hours and estimated to causes release of about 145-million metric-tons of carbon substances yearly. Datacenters have rapidly come to be the pillar of the global mobile system. In the present paper, we surveyed on various techniques used for efficient scheduling of tasks in datacenters and also reviewed the traditional scheduling algorithms advantages and their disadvantages to better insight new researchers in this field of research. We discussed contributing issues to data centers energy inefficiency such as Physical servers, Energy-efficient hardware, energy efficient workflows, Cooling Equipment, and Power plants. We recommended some optimal techniques and prospect directions regarding the future development of new algorithms to overcome some of the energy inefficiency drawbacks in the cloud data centers.
A Survey on Energy-Aware Scheduling Techniques in Cloud Computing Environment
Energy efficiency is one of the most primarily focused research issue in the cloud computing environment. Cloud offers various services (hardware/software) to the vast cloud consumers through internet. High end data centers are deployed by the cloud service provider (CSP) at the back end to provide cloud services to consumers. Datacenters consume high amount of energy which increases its operational expenditure as well as results in strong environment footprints. Therefore, efficient energy utilization in the datacenters is one of the primary research issue. To achieve the energy efficiency in cloud, various energy aware scheduling strategies are proposed in literature. This paper presents a survey of the proposed energy aware scheduling strategies in literature. The survey highlights the proposed energy efficiency strategy followed in each paper, its scope and results.
Green Cloud Computing: Energy Efficiency in Cloud Based Data Centers Ramkumar.R (2nd-MCA) Pope
Cloud computing is the whole new paradigm in the field of information technology and moving towards a cloud based system increases day by day because of this cloud based data centers are increasing greatly which leads to high energy consumption every day and also the emission of CO 2 by these data centers greatly affect the environment. To overcome this problem Green Computing came into existence. The main goal of green computing is to recycle and reuse. Green Computing helps to get the same computing speed at decreased energy consumption. In this paper I discussed about how green computing can be achieved by load balancing and virtualization. Which can reduce the energy consumption of cloud data centers which will in turn reduce the low emission of C0 2 .
A Study on Green Cloud Computing
International Journal of Grid and Distributed Computing, 2013
Cloud computing provides computing power and resources as a service to users across the globe. This scheme was introduced as a means to an end for customer's worldwide, providing high performance at a cheaper cost when compared to dedicated high-performance computing machines. This provision requires huge data-centers to be tightly-coupled with the system, the increasing use of which yields heavy consumption of energy and huge emission of CO2. Since energy has been a prime concern of late, this issue generated the importance of green cloud computing that provides techniques and algorithms to reduce energy wastage by incorporating its reuse. In this survey we discuss key techniques to reduce the energy consumption and CO2 emission that can cause severe health issues. We begin with a discussion on green matrices appropriate for data-centers and then throw light on green scheduling algorithms that facilitate reduction in energy consumption and CO2 emission levels in the existing systems. At the same time the various existing architectures related to green cloud also discussed in this paper with their pros and cons.
A Review on Energy Efficient Job Scheduling Algorithms in Green Cloud Computing
Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical and Clinical Research, 2017
Cloud computing is the hottest topic in today's world and is being used by most of the information technology companies due to its benefits in cost saving and ease of use. It is a dynamic, scalable, and pay-per-use distributed computing model. The cloud computing is aims to give access to remote and geographically distributed resources. Scheduling the job from one data center to other data center or from one region of cloud to other region is truly a testing in cloud environment. However, when data are shifted from one data center to other data center, huge amount of carbon dioxide (CO 2) gases emits and also consumes more power. Since energy is an important issue, that is, why green cloud computing comes into the picture. Green cloud computing can be obtained by applying various techniques and algorithms, which use less power and emits less CO 2 gas, that is, damaging the environment. Cloud provides many facilities to its tenants such as sharing of resources for different purposes. In cloud domain, job scheduling is one of the biggest and hypothetical problems. Numerous investigations for scheduling a job and efforts carried out in this regard because it is one of the main jobs to get the most profit. Scheduling can decrease the power consumption. So many algorithms had been proposed for this purpose, and a lot more had to be done. In the paper, intends to present a variety of energy-efficient job scheduling algorithms along with performance comparison analysis of various preexisting algorithms for scheduling jobs to provide energy efficiency in green cloud computing.
Literature Survey of Energy Efficient Scheduling Algorithm for Cloud Computing Environment
2022
Cloud services are typically made available and usable via a private cloud, community cloud, public cloud or hybrid cloud. Generally speaking, services provided by a public cloud are offered over the Internet and are owned and operated by a cloud provider. Some examples include services aimed at the general public, such as online photo storage services, e-mail services, or social networking sites. However, services for enterprises can also be offered in a public cloud. In a private cloud, the cloud infrastructure is operated solely for a specific organization, and is administrated by the organization or a third party. In a community cloud, the service is used by multiple organizations and made available only to those groups. Cloud Computing is considered to be a next step in the field of information technology. In this research work most of the researchers are trying to work on scheduling portion in order to gain maximum profit out of it. Therefore, in this work we have uses queue-based approach to identify and perform scheduling in an efficient manner.
Green Computing: An Era of Energy Saving Computing of Cloud Resources
International Journal of Mathematical Sciences and Computing, 2021
Cloud computing is a widely acceptable computing environment, and its services are also widely available. But the consumption of energy is one of the major issues of cloud computing as a green computing. Because many electronic resources like processing devices, storage devices in both client and server site and network computing devices like switches, routers are the main elements of energy consumption in cloud and during computation power are also required to cool the IT load in cloud computing. So due to the high consumption, cloud resources define the high energy cost during the service activities of cloud computing and contribute more carbon emissions to the atmosphere. These two issues inspired the cloud companies to develop such renewable cloud sustainability regulations to control the energy cost and the rate of CO 2 emission. The main purpose of this paper is to develop a green computing environment through saving the energy of cloud resources using the specific approach of identifying the requirement of computing resources during the computation of cloud services. Only required computing resources remain ON (working state), and the rest become OFF (sleep/hibernate state) to reduce the energy uses in the cloud data centers. This approach will be more efficient than other available approaches based on cloud service scheduling or migration and virtualization of services in the cloud network. It reduces the cloud data center's energy usages by applying a power management scheme (ON/OFF) on computing resources. The proposed approach helps to convert the cloud computing in green computing through identifying an appropriate number of cloud computing resources like processing nodes, servers, disks and switches/routers during any service computation on cloud to handle the energy-saving or environmental impact.
