For many years, the industrial world has benefited greatly from the use of automation. High degrees of repeatability and accuracy in production tools as well as high levels of consistency and precision in work items have been required. Only for production in high volumes can economic justification be demonstrated. We need robotics-based adaptive manipulation systems to accomplish this. Robotics is no longer a niche subject; it is now a global one! As a result, the use of robotics in both the industrial sector and the textile industry has produced notable advantages. Robotics in the textile industry is used to reduce labor-intensive procedures that need a lot of human work. Robotics and automation are frequently synonyms in the textile business today.

Automatic Fabric Storing and Feeding in Quality Clothing Manufacture

The exploitation of "intelligent" factory setups could enhance the competitiveness of the EU textile and clothes industries, by enabling collaborative design-and-manufacture options, while achieving economies of scope with effective exploitation of (strategic/tactical/execution) flexibility. Simulation turns to be reference aid for developing and acknowledging the appropriate setups and the adaptive schedules. The investigation, besides of reference concepts, summarises, for explanatory purpose, a case example related to the management of the fabric warehouse in order to grant adaptive sorting and dispatching of bolts, with on-process selective retrieval and handling of the actually used cloth, with account of fabric quality-data and of time-varying schedules. Purposely designed frontend automation rigs are required to enable the prospected upgrading options, and example robotic aids are studied, to show their actual feasibility. The considered combined-mode schedules show the benefits for prompt response leaving open middle/long horizons issues; direct checks on alternatives are provided by virtual reality tests.

High levels of consistency and precision in work pieces and high levels of repeatability and accuracy in manufacturing equipment have been required. Economic Justification can be shown only for large quantities of production. To achieve this, we need adaptive manipulation systems having some robotics mechanisms. Robotics is no longer a restricted field; it is a universal subject! As a result, the application of robotics in the industrial world as well as the textile industry has resulted in significant benefits. Application of robotics in textile industry is directed at minimizing human efforts in labour-intensive processes. Today automation in textile industry is often to be synonymous with Robotics. Since computer plays a key role in robotics, the word robot has a specific meaning and it has an emphasis in industry specially related to textiles.

Textile industry is one of the few basic industries that have always been a necessary component of human life. In any study of textile fabrics the meaning of the word textile must be made clear. The dictionary states that the word is derived from the Latin word 'texere' to weave, but a wider meaning than simply that of weaving must be accepted since that is only one of various ways of making textile fabrics. One may classify it as a more glamorous industry, but whatever it is, it provides with the basic requirement called clothes. The researcher has given in this chapter all possible terms and concepts involved in textile production process. Most of these terms are technical. This chapter is an attempt to understand clear cut ideas about research topic. It gives an insight about terms that are used all around the world in context of textile industry. There are numerous kinds of fibres and other raw materials, which are used to produce a cloth. But most of them are unheard of. This chapter is designed in such a way that it is easy to understand the basics of textiles.

Applying autonomous control in apparel manufacturing
Problems caused by manual handling of garments in the apparel industry can be improved by automated data management based on radio frequency identification technology. Autonomous control can be established on top to increase the system robustness and to enable smaller production lot sizes. Different system architectures are defined for autonomous control and technical solutions are proposed to implement autonomous control in apparel manufacturing.
